Grahe lingam-shalagram-chakradinam Sankhyayah Parimane Vichar

According to Varah and Padma puranam Three shalagrams , two dwarka

chakras, Two Lingas and two Suns should never be worshipped in a

house. These texts abstain Hindus from worshipping these sacred

objects in the described numbers. They also state that Three

Ganesha, Three Shakti, two conchs and a broken idol should not be

worshipped in a house. Three Ganesha means three idols of Shree

Vighnaraja. I am still skeptical about the two conchs as i have

heard that conchs should be worshipped in Pair.

"Vishma Naive poojyaastu Vishmesvek aiv hi | Shalagram Shila bhagna

poojniya Sachakraka | Khandita Sfootita Vaapi Shalagram shila shubha"

Further these Shastras explain that a householder worshipping these

idols ( In mentioned improper numbers) will be met by severe

problems. According to them a Shalagram should not be worshipped in

odd numbers. In odd numbers only one is acceptable and rest are

avoided.

The above shloka explains that even a broken Shalagram shila is

considered very auspicious.

According to Varah:

" DwadhyaDaktay Yo devi Shalagramshilam Narah : | Suvarna Sahitaam

Divyam Prithvidaan Phalam Labhet "

Oh! Devi, the person who donates Shalagram shila together with Gold

is benefited by the same Punyas as to be obtained from the donation

of land.

Shalagram pooja is a kind of Seva which requires regular worship

from the side of the devotee. A vasihnava should never treat

Shalagrams as inert objects. He/she should treat Shree Shalagram as

Shree Hari Vishnu. He/she should respect and follow all pooja

procedures needed for Shalagram worship .

Shalagrams should be offered water and Sandal wood Tilakam. The

water should be used as Charnamrit. This water is highly pure and

powerful and acts as powerful remedy in many of the problems.

The place becomes a Tirtha where Shalagrams are kept. But one should

keep in mind that Shalagram require daily poojas. One should never

stop the poojas in between. Irregularity in Poojas can bring

problems to native. Shalagrams should be kept on some high place and

be carried along with self, while going out of the house ( For a

long trip).

I have seen the case of one person who use to come to me. His wife

worshipped Shaligram Shilas in her house ( I was not aware of it).

He use to consult me regularly and was a very powerful person in

respect of money and affluence. Many stars use to visit his

galleries for his products.

I once forwarned him about a dangerous period ahead. Astrologicaly

he had to face some bad period. During that period he was arrested

by police and was accused of smuggling and other crimes. He was in

Jail for three years. After that incident i once visited his house

and was amazed to see the beautiful Shalagram ji in his house. But

there was no pooja or anything. His wife had left it four years back.

It is difficult to understand that whether it was this drastic

reason of ignorance or whether a way of God to punish a person for

his offences, but the results were bad. I personaly feel that one

who worshipes Shree Shalagram Prabhu should be very meticulous about

it.

Regards,
