Guest guest
Yoga: Science of the Soul Small-town Indian instructor exports technique to Japan and Australia Neel Kamal (neelkamal) Email Article Print Article Published 2006-07-18 12:08 (KST) Yoga provides a big platform for a small-town instructor from India to spread the message in far away Japan and Australia. Capable of providing a healing touch, yoga is spreading its influence the world over. Amandeep Sharma, who hails from the small town of Barnala, says that people who are interested in yoga just to remove physical diseases should understand that even the healthiest body has to perish some day. Getting down with Yoga in Tokyo: A shot of Amandeep Sharma's class ©2006 A. Sharma "We have to know our immortal, blissful soul to become permanently happy. For this, yoga is most suitable," Sharma says. Sharma has been in Tokyo for more than a year. He says the number of Japanese women turning to yoga in their search for happiness outnumbers the men. Accordingly, Japanese women who were once only interested in club life are now joining yoga centers. Sensing their attraction to the discourses of Sharma, Voice, a large company in Japan, has requested his services, which includes lectures and classes on yoga and Vedic astrology. He teaches on Tuesday, Saturday and Sundays. Last year, Sharma was invited to Australia to give lectures on yoga philosophy and Vedic astrology. He says many Australians are looking to relieve mental stress by using the ancient meditation techniques of India. Australians prefer natural remedies like yoga or Ayurveda to doctors. For many Australians suffering from obesity, asthma, and diabetes, yoga postures like Kapalbhati and Bhastrika have proved very effective. ©2006 A. Sharma Before landing in Japan, Sharma taught at Yoga Niketan, Rishikesh, India. He says his aim in foreign countries is not only teaching yoga and spirituality, but also trying to introduce many aspects of yoga that are originally from India but for which the world never gave India credit. Apart from teaching yoga, Sharma is at home with Vedic astrology and Sanskrit (an ancient Indian language). He is also helping many people to change their life patterns and become more prosperous through Vedic astrology. A score of American and Canadian groups have called him for lectures on yoga. www.yogajyoti.com www.mellowbeaute.com (Daikenyama) www.phy-a.com (Ebisu) http://english.ohmynews.com/articleview/article_view.asp? at_code=346368&no=305583&rel_no=
