Respected Members,

The rest of this thread is at the Srijagannath Group.

Dear Shri Dasa,

I was actually considering the meaning of the various D-60 deities

with respect to my chart:11th June, 1972; Cuttack, Orissa,

India;10:17:52 AM.

The reason was that the nature of events prompted me to think that

the past lives were very much at play. It was in this context that I

wanted the meanings of some of the deities to better understand the

Karmic role of the Grahas.

Upon being referred to Shri PVR Narasimha Rao's illuminating MP3 on

Pt. Sanjay Rath's chart, I also found that the rule pertaining to

conjunction of planets was being strictly followed and the Yuti of

Shukra-Mangal in Pt. Rath's D-60 was taken to mean that the Moola

Dasha of one would give the results of the other.

In the chart given above, Rahu is conjunct the debilitated Lagnesh

(in both Rashi and D-60) and its Dasha in Kaala Paavaka D-60 would

give the results of the AK Sun in Bhrashta Amsha. This appears

plausible because of the somewhat amazing routing of life to Jyotish

and spirituality. Even though Rahu can himself give Jyotish, this

seems to be the work of the AK, ensuring that the various Karma(s)

for which the birth has occured, do take place.

Also, as discussed in the thread, the next Moola Dasha is in Vahni

Amsha. But before that Ketu AD will soon start and this Jnana has

come in Guru PD in the Moola Dasha.

It does appear to tie in.

Also, as stated elsewhere in the thread, the Moola Dashas snce birth

have almost all involved curses in the Rashi and the D-60, and this

coupled with the Amavasya birth have made for some serious

intensity. Of course, all this coupled with protective blessings.

Also, as per Pt. Rath's instruction the remedial measures for the

Amavasya Dosha have been performed. It is quite true: this Tithi

does involve hellish suffering. But as PVR in his lecture on

Inauspicious Births indicates, Sage Parashara does say that once the

remedies for these major Doshas are performed, there is 'Kalyanam'

or relief/ auspicious results are felt.

All these factors tie in from the Arudha level too.

Regards.

Dear Hari,

The ritual uses the Pancha Pallava or the five types of leaves:

Mango, Vat, Goolar, Neem and Pipal. A water pot containing water

from the Holy Ganges is to be established in the South Western

direction (ruled by Rahu) lording the Amavasya Tithi. The luminaries

are to be worshipped with the Mantra 'Savita' for the Sun

and 'Aapyaayasva' for the Moon. Idols of the luminaries might be

installed in this direction. After the worship, the water is to be

poured over the head of the Jataka and his/ her parents. A Havan is

also recommended along with feeding Brahmins in the BPHS Vol 2.

Please refer to Pt. Sanjay Rath's text Vedic Remedies in Astrology

(VRA) for further details.

I also donated a black cow (Shyama Cow) to a Brahmin along with some

gold (affordable; it can be a small piece).

Pt. Rath advises that for those who cannot do this elaborate ritual,

installing a water pot and worshipping the luminaries might do.

Best Wishes.

Dear Sourav Ji,

Yes, there is room for clarification on this issue. However, in Pt.

Rath's D-60 according to the most wonderful MP3 by Sri PVR Narasimha

Rao, the Moola Dasha of Venus is stated to give the results of Mars.

But Mars and Venus are also opposed to each other.

Accd. to Shri PVR Narasimha Rao, the only exception to this is when

one of the Grahas is in its own Rashi and then this Graha tends to

dominate.

In my case, I feel the exchange of results might have come to pass.

However, since Rahu and Surya associate so closely in both Rashi and

D-60, it is tough to decide.

Trials in career are better indicated by Sun, the Karaka of job

availability in MKS in D-10 in Rajyapada and testing in Rashi as the

AK in 10th. Rahu is very well placed in this regard in both Rashi

and D-10. Again, inner soul level suffering and assaults to the ego

and the pride can be indicated by either Graha. Rahu is the BK but

perhaps the Jyotish is a fruit of this AK in Bhrashta Amsha

insisting that I participate in these matters.

Once again due to Amavasya Dosha in the 10th House, these tests are

indicated again and make the decision more difficult. Once remedies

were started, immediate letting up was felt. Before that, and in the

accompanying Sade-Sati it had become very difficult.

Maybe Sanjay Ji can give the final view as to whether Rahu itself

will give the results in Moola Dasha in such a case, or would it be

the Sun due to Yuti.

Regards.

Namaste friends,

The translations by Santhanam and GC Sharma also mention "southwest"

and both give the Sanskrit text as "vahni konake".

Literally, "vahni konake" means "in the corner of fire god". The

southeast is ruled by Agni (fire god) and the Sanskrit term for

southeast is Aagneya (belonging to Agni/fire). There is *absolutely*

no way "vahni konake" can be translated as "in the southwest corner".

It is curious that the two BPHS translations into English had the

same typo! I wonder if Sanjay ji followed the translations in VRA

without cross-checking with the Sanskrit text.

> I think South West is a

> rules this Disha.

Parasara never refers to Rahu in the entire Amavasya remedy

procedure. He refers to Rahu only in Grahana (eclipse) remedy.

Parasara refers to Sun and Moon as the "ruling deities of Amavasya".

Thus, he is not at all referring to the tithi lords as we use them

at SJC.

In fact, he suggests the same south east corner for placing the

kalasha in both Amavasya remedy and Krishna Chaturdasi remedy. So

this is irrespective of the ruling planet of tithi.

I wonder if southeast ruled by Venus in dik-chakra is used in all

tithi based remedies, as watery Venus rules over the overall tithi

element of panchanga. Similarly, airy Saturn rules over the

nakshatra element of panchanga and he is associated with the western

direction in dik-chakra. I wonder if that is why kalasha is supposed

to be placed westward in abhukta-Moola nakshatra remedy.

Anyway, that is just some loud thinking. But what is clear is that

Parasara recommends placing the kalasha in southeast corner in both

Amavasya and Krishna Chaturdasi remedies, as per the Sanskrit verse

given by both Santhanam and Sharma.

I am giving my independent interpretation of the remedy chapters in

BPHS these days in my Boston classes. You may want to listen to the

MP3's.
