Guest guest
A few weeks ago, I had posted a message that this is home, as far as I am concerned, based on acceptance of my postings and how soon they appeared after posting. Moderation has, unfortunately become the norm and my entire cyber- experience particularly back in the compuserve days of the early 90s when if we did not moderate a huge and somewhat wild crowd -- chaos would soon overwhelm us. In recent times, moderation little as it exists on this forum has probably been tested to the hilt. Congratulations Neeraj and Tanvir! If despite the reasonably permissive moderation, only 5 of 5000 complained over many weeks that represents less than one percent-- infact exactly 1/10th of a percent -- one in a thousand! Collectively, brothers and sisters, we are doing pretty well! Let us rejoice in that moment that represents or should represent a lot to us individually in this thankless job that no one forced us to take on! Let us not forget that for a moment! I was telling someone earlier about my experience of a refugee camp in early 70s. It was chaos, all around, people wailing and dying of wounds, heat exhaustion, cholera in make shift tents with limited medical and other supplies. The wailing and negativity got to you at the end of the day, invariably, but after few hours of fatigued slumber, the dawn brought new hope. We went through another day of the same, pretty much! They had no choice, the victims to be anywhere but there in those camps We the servers did not have to be there, really! It was a relief when our term was over and we could go back to our safe and comfortable routine lives. Yet, every single blessed one of us with freedom to leave those dire ongoing miserable circumstances felt remorse when our relieving orders came! This is nothing compared to that camp! The misery here is puny compared to that camp in Raipur. Yet it is the same spirit that makes some of us come back or just hang on -- when the orders reliveing us came long ago telling us we could leave anytime!
