I am trying to reach the PRO, TTD to ascertain the credibility of this piece / Namaste/ S V Badri NEWS ITEM ** *TTD to make Tilak compulsory for Employees* ** *Devasthanam ready to issue new circular* (free translation from a first page report in Andhra Jyoti – July 20, 2006) Tirupati, July 19 (online) The TTD Administration has decided to issue fresh circulars to the effect that all the TTD employees should wear Tilak on their foreheads. The decision to implement this strictly follows the acceptance of the proposal by the major Employee Union members at a meeting held on Wednesday at the TTD Administrative building, thus making it easy for the TTD Administration.. The recently released report of the fact finding committee headed by Justice Bhikshapathi had pointed out that there are many employees who belong to other than Hindu religion and do not wear a Tilak. However, the TTD Administration had in the past made many such efforts to make wearing a Tilak by the employees as mandatory. However, the results were short-lived. This time around, the Employees Union members have expressed their opinion that while enjoying the food given by Sri Venkateswara, it is improper to not to wear a Tilak. Therefore, the TTD Administration has decided to issue fresh circulars asking the employees to either wear a Tilak, Tiruman, Kumkum, Vibhuti or Chandan while in duty. It is understood that this will be issued in a day or two. *STAGE SET TO TRANSFER 25 EMPLOYEES FROM TIRUMALA* * * The TTD Administration has strongly reacted to the allegations that some employees of the TTD have converted to other than Hindu religions and are involved in evangelism. The vigilance department has recently conducted a survey on such employees who had obtained the job with their Scheduled Caste certificates had have since converted to other than Hindu religion. They have realized that such conversions have taken place of employees right from the rank of a Deputy E.O to that of an attender. But the Devasthanam has been unsuccessful in obtaining hard evidence of their having been converted.. However, in order to put a stop to allegations, the TTD Administration has decided to transfer them from Tirumala and have readied the files on Wednesday. The orders are likely to be passed on Thursday or Friday. (Translation from Telugu by S V Badri - Camp:Tirupati)
