Dear Kiran jee

This Year, The Hindu Month "Shravan" starts on 12th July 2006 and will

last for 1 month. As per the Indian Mythology, the Hindu

Month "Shravan" ("Shravan Maas") is said to be the most auspicious

time to worship Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is the regarded as the greatest

of all Gods - Mahadeva.

Om Namah Shivaya

dear shiv bhakts

om namo bhagawate rudraya

unfortunately each state has its own panchang and for north the sravan

month starts from 12th july and in andhra it starts from 26th july.

each language or state has its own panchang and different dates for

their new year. i am based at delhi and i personally follow the north indian panchag as each month according to that panchang is directly correlated to planet sun's astronomical movement from one rashi to another. however, one may follow their own local state or language based panchang. the bottomline is that the tithis and nakshatras remain same in all panchangas but the masam changes according to the local names and even the names of the year are different for each state or language.

in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes

pandit arjun
