Guest guest
Hi Charles, I am just a beginner in astrology but I will take a shot. If you have children and the first child was a boy born after 4/5/96, then your ascendant as well as the sun sign is Taurus. Regards, Pratap charles_corbit <ccorbit (AT) comcast (DOT) net> wrote: I have recently begun investigating my chart. DOB: May 6th, 1964 4:52 EST (5:52 DST) Place: Reading, PA 75W56 40N20 I read the book Light on Life twice, but I am still confused as there is so much art is interpreting a chart. I can follow the mechanics, but I do not know how to read my chart other than in general. For example, my ascendant is Aries, and I do not resemble an Aries expect that I am impatient by nature. I am definitely more like a Taurus, which is my sun sign. Can anyone recommend any other books that are helpful? I am planning on getting a professional reading at some point, but want to understand as much as possible beforehand. In addition, I would like to see if anything is correct or "on" regarding my past to see if I would trust astrology as a predictive tool in the future. Ok, maybe I do have a bit of Aries in me! Guest guest
Hi Charles, Try James Braha's "Ancient Hindu Astrology for the Modern Western Astrologer." It's not perfect but a lot of people have found it a good bridge to explain the relationship between western and eastern astrology. Keep in mind that you have a powerful conjunction of Saturn and Moon in your chart that is very much in contrast to the contained fire of your Aries ascendant and your many Aries planets, and this adds a note of caution, reserve and skepticism to your nature. These more conservative qualities are brought out because you are in your Saturn dasha period between 1993 and 2012. Yet the quality of your Aries planets are still there and they can explain your occasional impatience. Vedic astrology is complex enough that reading one or two books is rarely sufficient to give a sufficient grasp of the subject on a whole and then have the skill to apply these new principles to your own chart. (Only an Aries ascendant would try!) So try Braha's book and take your understanding to a deeper level and then find someone who can take you through your chart. The depth of Vedic astrology is rarely revealed except by time and revelation, and although the process can't be rushed, the rewards are worth it. Best wishes. Haizen Paige PS. Guest guest
Hello Haizen, Thank you for the feedback. I looked up the J. Braha's books on Amazon and ordered the "Art and Practice of Hindu Astrology". I did not order the one you reccomended as I really do not no much about western astrology other than I am a Taurus. I actually ordered "How to be a great astrologer" as well. You mentioned one or two books would not be sufficient, so I figured I would try three <grin>. Anyway, I do have a couple of clarifying questions, if you do not mind. 1.) You mentioned that Saturn and the Moon off set some of the Aries traits. So I am assuming that the fact that my sun sign is Taurus is not the reason I have the Taurus traits, but the fact that Saturn and Moon are in my 11th natal house? 2.) As you noticed, I do have quite a few planets in my ascendent. In fact, Mars is the ruler of that house. So it would lead me to believe I would be impacted by that planet. Mars is the wanderer. I have lived in the same city all my life. I travel for my job on occassion to many locations, including Europe, Canada, etc.. Although, I like the experience of the trips, I always get homesick. I really like a homebase and love my home. So I do not seem to have any of the Mars traits. To continue, I am with the same company for 22 years! How can Mars be so strong in my chart and I see no correlation of myself? 3.) You mentioned the dashas. I tried to tied significant events in my life to these periods. I even went down sub levels, but none of there periods correlated with marriage, medical issues, children, etc.. Is it possible I am reading it wrong It appears straight forward in "Light on Life"? I could go on and on, but these are some questions on the forefront of my mind. Thank you for you feedback. Guest guest
Dear James, While it is true that your mars is strong in shadbala and vimshopak etc and placed in lagna in aries, that would not necessarily mean that you would respond to all 'tags' and attributes that have been associated with mars. Afterall, there are 3 othr planets who are also strong (though not as strong as mars). Perhaps mars gives you a strong body and energy vitality (particularly with uchcha sun also there). With so many planets there is always a blend. Regarding wandering, firstly I do not believe everyone with mars in lagna or prominent tends to wander. They can be restless, particularly when mars in mercurian star with mercury influencing the mars (your case) and some of these individuals have been known to be physically active or even have a habit of not sitting still. They tap fingers, or shake their knees, etc. Again, it does not mean everyone will have these! Regarding your long-term absence of change in location -- please note that the fourth house (home) is ruled by moon which is in a fixed sign with Manda (slow) saturn, lord of 10th. The fact that these are happily placed in the 11th with highest Ashtakavarga (thanks to all those planets in lagna!) you have the best of both worlds, a stable home and work with opportunities to travel! Why would you want anything else just because mars is in lagna? In your navamsha also the fourth and tenth lords are again moon and saturn in fourth while mars the wanderer is in fixed taurus. Similar pattern shows up in the fourth varga. After 2010 (you may get a diff period based on your ayanamsha etc) the restlessness would increase, but not because of mars! I am curious if you experienced a bit of inner restlessness and discontent with the status quo during 1995 to 1997? Change for the sake of change was not such a bad idea it seemed back then? In the meantime, all the best wishes for successful resolution of whatever you are seeking. RR , "charles_corbit" <ccorbit wrote: > > Hello Haizen, > > Thank you for the feedback. I looked up the J.
