Guest guest
Dear all, I am a beginner in learning astrology. I am looking for articles/reference texts on "Rasi Sandhi". What would be the effect of Rasi sandhi on various planets, especially luminaries? I know that being "Gandata" destroys the strength of planets. Does the same apply to "Rasi Sandhi"? Any guidance on this is much appreciated. Thanks to all in advance, best regards, SK

Guest guest
Dear Kumar ji, I have read from B V Raman's book that planetary strength will go down if it falls in Bhava Sandhi. Here you are saying that the strength will diminish at Rasi Sandhi. Are both these views correct? Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Krishnamurthy-ji, Namaskar. When 1 house=1 rasi, rasi sandhi and bhava sandhi are same. Usually one trimsamsa (1 deg) on either side is considered critical. There are three rasi sandhis: Meena/Mesha, Karka/Simha, Vrischika/Dhanu, which are considered worst as they represent the sandhi between jala and agni rasi which is a bad mismatch of tattva. Hence these three are specially grouped as Gandanta. Guest guest
Dear Sauravji, I feel rasi sandhi and bhava sandhi are quite different. Rasi and Bhava may not be same quite often. Suppose when lagna is at 15 deg then it is the cusp and 15 deg either side are the sandhis. In such a scenario rasi sandhi and bhava sandi are same. At the same time when lagna is at 5 deg then the bhava sandhi comes 15 deg either side, say 20 deg in the previous rasi and 20 deg in the same rasi. Here the the bhava sandhi will be at 20 deg and rasi sandhi will be at 30 deg, ofcourse plus/minus 1 deg. Guest guest
Dear Ravindra Nair, Yes, you are right. That is why I raised the question. In adiition to what you have said, if one follows variable houses like Sripathi, the Bhava Sandhi would be quite different to Rasi Sandhi. So my question is should we consider that a planet loses strength at both Rasi sandhi and Bhava Sandhi or at only one of the sanhdhis - if one, which one? As far as my experience goes planets lose stength at Bhava Sandhi. I have not seen the same happening at Rasi Sandhi. Regards, Krishna --- "A. Guest guest
Dear Krishna, While planets loses power in bhava sandhi, Rahu/Kethu gains power there. Rasi concerns with environmental influence on the lagna and hence has less consequence, but, yes, it creates confusion. Guest guest
Dear Sauravji, In south we take rasi and navamsa chakra only whereas I have seen in north, there is rasi chakra, bhava chakra, lagna chakra etc. and in such scenario your comment about one rasi = one bhava is perfectly right. Regards and thanks for the guidance. Ravi Nair Sourav <souravc108 > wrote: || Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Ravindran, Namaskar. Right. Then you are talking of Bhavachalit chakra ? Guest guest
Dear Sauravji, If any planet is in the sputa equal to the bhava sandhi sputa, such planet become lifeless and is not able to influence the effects of such bhava in whatsoever manner. Source is Samboorna Jataka Ganitham by Dr. P.S. Nair, page 198-199. About Rahu/Kethu gaining more power in Rasi Sandhi, I am trying to locate the source. I remember I have read it somewhere. Guest guest
*|| OM MAHAGANAPATAYE NAMAH ||* Dear friends, It is a issue debated very often,Traditional views can be stated as below. 1. We consider Sign position in Rasi chart. 2. We consider House position in Bhava chart/Chalit chart. House division may be any equal hose or sripati.System analysis and Vedic uses equal house division others uses Srpati (except KP we are not talking here.) Now question is how to interpret position of Planet in sandhi , in Rasi or Bhava. Either of the following situation can arise. A Planet is in rasi sandhi. B Planet is in bhava Sandhi. C Planer changes position in Bhava may be either way. We examine results of planets in rasi/bhava/ownership/yoga.etc attributable to natural signification of lordship and few others say karaka etc. A It is Rasi sandhi . What we Normaly do? Planet in Rasi sandhi suffer and spoil results governed due to elements( Tattwas) and of natural karkas and to some extent of ownership. Ex see chart of Napoleon or say a native born on 04/10/1945 at 29:30 IST at 27N11 78E02.As soon as Sat dasa started He lost his high positioned Job and his income came to halt. ( lord of X and XI in Rasi sndhi) Planet in Bhava Sandhi is read About Influence on house it is placed in - It is not capable of influence that accrue due to its placement by Guna and elements. Lastly position in Bhava changes - Other influence. - Say that planet is participating in Raja yoga but shifts in Bhava , it is likely that rajyoga falls through or results are reduced. Example Adolf Hitler DOB 20 April 1889 6:30 PM LMT 48N 13E. Mars and Venus moves to Eight House. In Jhora bhava chart can be seen easily Pl see opton. House longitudes are also seen. One can easily note Sandhi is at 23 Tau 09 and Mars is at 24:04 of Aries. What happened actually.Atmakarka is Venus. It is in rapt conjunction with Mars. Please look Navamsa .Mars is navamsa lord as well as depositor of Karkamsa. In rasi chart Mars and Venus Forma a rajyoga of high order. He was a warrior.Mras also involved him in fierce destruction and War.Eventually it Caused the loss of Raj yoga by giving him illrepute and Death. I hope many of my friends will apply the logic and will be benefitted to some extent. || May all people be happy || OM TAT SAT R.C.Srivastava . swami_rcs mob 9412268768 http://www.cosmograce.com http://www.cosmograce.blogspot.com - GKumar Wednesday, July 26, 2006 3:46 PM Re: [Om Krishna Guru] Rasi Sandhi Dear All, When it is said " Sandhistho Na Phala Prada ", the author intended both the Sandhis. Guest guest
|| Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Sri Ravindran, Namaskar. There are six-fold strengths in jyotish so we cannot say that graha in bhava junctions is weak, automatically. The Bhava-chalit Chakra shows a person's own perception of situation where as normal Rasi chakra shows actual reality. Hence, there rai sandhi becomes important. Bhavas are areas of life and rasi's are situations and status of these areas. For example, if 7th lord is in rasi sandhi, then marriage suffers. But if it is in a bhava-sandhi (in the way you are describing bhavas) the person feels that marriage could be better (depends on which bhava sandhi). Guest guest
Dear Sauravji, Thanks for the guidance. As we know, the 6 fold strength is basically calculated based on the rasi position of the planets. But the southern texts states that to be more precise, calculating the 6th fold strength based on the bhava position shall be more apt to have the correct judgement of the planets potency. If any planet is moving to bhava sandhi it is called Aarohi (gaining strength) and for moving away from bhava sandhi it is called Avarohi (losing strength). They specify a method called Thrirasikam to calculate the bhava strength of the planet. From Bhava Sandhi to Bhava Madhyam it is 15 deg. and we can calculate the bhava strength of the planet by considering the degrees gained by the planet divided by 15 = percentage gained. This method is also part of the shadvarga and is specified along with. Hence Bhava Sandhi and Rasi Sandhi both are significant and have its own implications. Sauravji, I value these types of interactions for gaining focus on certain issues for learning. Regards Ravi Nair Sourav <souravc108 > wrote: || Hare Rama Krishna || Dear Sri Ravindran, Namaskar. Guest guest
Dear Sauravji, Sorry, a typing mistake. Planets moving towards bhava madhyam is Arohi (gaining strength) and moving away from bhava maadhyam to bhava sandhi is Avarohi (losing strength). Not bhava sandhi as typed in. Regards Ravi Nair "A. Ravindran Nair" <rain13club > wrote: Dear Sauravji, Thanks for the guidance.
