Dear Prafulla,

I am sure these r used as it is common now to use them else they wud have used Hindu calander days and names.

btw how many Hindus even in this group can tel their Hindu yr m mothm, or star fo birth, take a poll u will be shocked sure 95% of Hindus now will not be able to.

we remember the georgian dates. that is sure British legacy.we talk of gandhi Jayahthi on oct 2nd isnt it sad, must be Gandhi's b'day his jayanthi must be with his Hindu month, date as rest of Hindu festivals are remembered.

Some of the remedies are sugested for particular days like saturday, tuesday etc. I am bit curious to know, if these week days existed prior to british rule in India. I am very keen to know the days reference in any of the texts suggesting remedies.

In my understanding, these remedies are always to be done on the constellation day of the planet !!!!

We all have our time machines. Some take us back, They're called memories. Some take us forward, they're called dreams.

Kumarji,

Many years ago, I was reading the writings of Dr. K.N. Saraswathy who

was describing the south indian tradition of celebrating the 100th

lunar year birthday of her illustrious father and Sri Radhakrishnan,

one of the most erudite Presidents of India ever speaking on that

occasion. What a wonderful tribute to moon who has a special place in

any jyotishi's heart and soul and given such homage which many of us

modern astrologers seem to have forgotten. The significance of the

lunar chart (part of Sudarshana) and gochara and before I forget,

Vimshottari dasha! Even compatibility kutas should perhaps not be

cursorily dismissed but re-examined for their wider application!

Marriages have changed in character over the centuries and koota may

not be everything when examining the compatibility and future of

a 'modern' marriage, but maybe the koota nirnaya has a wider

significance in the modern day!
