Ayurveda is not only applicable to humans but to all living

and "dead" in science terms.

To support your assertions, author provides a real life story.

Chalisgaon is a small town in Maharashtra, on Mumbai-Mathura-Delhi Raliway route.

about 50 years back, Dr Purnaptre was practicing there. Had maternity

home. He had his residence also in the neighborhood. He used to love

adventure. Having a lion's heart, he used to go and hunt the tigers

where ever Tiger had created terror killing humans, cows etc.

Once, after killing the tigress, found her she-cub orphaned. Feeling very sad, he brought her home and looked after as pet. Initially she was fed cow milk, goat milk. Named Sonali, she became completely homely, playing with children, all family members. As she started growing, milk became

insuficient, so veg. diet was provided, soon that too became

insufficient so some goat flesh was daily being fed. She used to like veg diet too. But samsakaras are built mainly in childhood only. The cub, grown up now as full

tigress, did not show any animosity, aggression to anyone. Cow,

goat dog all were friends. Patients also knew that Sonali was friendly and would not hurt anybody. Only when a stranger used

to come to the house, the roar out of her canine instincts, was

almost causing a heart attack to visitor. The doctor-hunter slowly stopped

getting visits from friends, relatives. Patinets also reduced. Slowly, seeing the quarantining by all,

(his children were not getting any marriage proposals) he decided to donate the tigress to Pune (sarasbaug) zoo.

He took her to zoo, and that day, whole family's tears

would fill up a gallon measure. He returned, only to

get an urgent telegram from zoo, after a week. "Sonali has not eaten anything in one week. please

come and feed her". Sonali was not intersted in anyone who came to

watch her in the cage. When Dr Purnapatre reached there, she was almost

crying like a child, weak and lying down. As soon as

he reached, she got up with residual strenth and jumped on him,

hugged him. She took food too. Towards evening,

however, she started sensing his thoughts. She was

chained again, cage closed by covering by a taurpaulin, and he left.

he had no guts to look back. Within two more days, she died and

hunter had to go there for her cremation.

He published a book on entire life of Sonali with several photographs. Author does not

remember the publisher and title of the book. Needless to say, Dr Purnapatre

stopped hunting thereafter. Any marathi members on this list belonging to Maharashtra or

Chalisgaon/Pune, if you remember the title/publisher, please post.

And there is a Rotary Hall and a High School named after Dr Purnapatre in Chalisgaon.

The satva and love comes in not only food but from environment too. Muslim rulers learnt what is love in India. Jodhabai, sister of Mansing married Jehangir and her son Shahajahan created the monument of love: Tajmahal. Akbar loved all Indian pandits and had them in his court as Navratnas.

One more story from ancient history.

Acharya Vasishta was called "Brahmarshi". Sage Viswamitra too wanted to obtain that title. But despite his desires, most people told that title can be given by Vasishta only. Vasishta declined. Enraged, Viswamitra killed all sons of Vasishta and then was about to kill Vasishta also. But at the last moment realized his mistake and melted all anger/jealousy from his heart. Prostrated at the feet of Vasishta, vashishta granted him the title "Brahmarshi" since he washed away all "rajas" from him heart. Vishwamitra was born Kshatriya, and had lost his all "purity" once at the sight of "Menka", the dancer girl from paradise. So Rajas pulled him down twice in his life. Many such stories in Indian Mythology. The stand taken by Government on Treerorism reminds the story of Sikandar and Pourav.
