According to the Vedas, nothing is non-living in this creation. "Rupam rupam pratirupo babhuva"- Rigveda.

Every form is an image of the ONE ORIGINAL FORM, the Supreme Being. "Ekoaham bahusyami"- Rigveda

The Supreme Being says'- "I am One, want to be Many." ( Rigveda) .....Thus HE manifested HIMself into many.

"Yat pinde tatha brahmande"- what is in microcosm is in macrocosm.

Everything has life. Even the rocks. In Vastushastra, rocks have genders-male, female & neutral. During construction, male rocks & female rocks must make alternate layers. Otherwise, similar rocks rocks will repulse

each other & wall will not be durable.

Manusmriti ( Ist chapter: Process of creation) says about plants & rocks etc: " Antahsangya bhavantyete, sukh-dukh-samanvita..." >> They have inner feelings and the sense of happiness & sorrow<<<<< Manusmriti & several ancient Vedic texts have elaborated that it is status of awakened consciousness which differentiates

things/ creatures in the creation. Rock's consciousness is too dormant. Plants have little more awakened consciousness, followed by insects, animals, humans etc. An individual becomes rock, plant, insect, animal or human on the basis of his past karmas ( thoughts & actions).

And the 'Prana' is of different types. ( Not Udan, vyan etc). Am forgetting their names right now. But Krishna mentions in Gita about the Dhananjay Pran. Thus, the prana of plants are diffrnt than that of humans.

Moreover, the concept of 'Shakahar' or vegetarianism has nothing to do with absence or presence of Life !!

Its a wrong but common notion. What is actual vegetarian diet ? Answer- All Satwik food. Anything which helps

u increase Satva-guna within u, and curb Rajsik & Tamsik tendencies.

best regards,

Yashendra

Dear Mahesh,

Swami Sivananda (dlsq.org), Pt Ramkumar Sharama Acharya (awgp.org)

etc have written about Himsa and Ahimsa. Killing for self protection

is not himsa, as per even Bhagvad Gita. Our mythology is full of

several wars and killings for protecting "Dharma"

But let us divert here to your statement that plants have life. It

interested this author.

All the messages on diet so far, including those posted by this

author are waste of words, since this author feels that even those

who eat green vegetables and even wheat grass etc are causing Himsa

and thus cruelty on plants. Jain monks avoid eating even green

vegetables during the "Paryushans". Plants have a soul and feelings

like us. We are all human animals and not only those who eat meat etc.
