Guest guest
Your mail is surprising, as Ahinsa is a well known Vedic- Upanishadic concept. "Ahinsa parmo dharmah"- the famous quote is from Upanishads !! And pls note that vegetariansim doesnot mean just abstinece from animal meat, it also includes abstinence from any Rajasik or Tamsik food including plants. Onion & garlic, round pumpkins, carrots etc. are some plant products which are Rajsik and hence not consumed by true vegetarians. Onion and garlic never had sanction as regular food in Vedic tradition. Till date, in all naivedyas & prasadams, carrots are never offered. Then, there is a long list in scriptures about certaind fruits & vegetables which become Rajsik or Tamsik in certain seasons... and, therefore, are not to be consumed in those times. Shikara or Hunting is definitely a Kshatriya tradition. Not for food. But for practising martial arts, not for food. In early ages, human population was much less and wild animals were in majority. Their population was needed to be controlled. This led to hunting practice in Aryan Kshtriyas. But never food. The killing for food started when the Vedic civilization declined and a Buddha was requird to revive it. Now, Ahinsa as stated by Gandhi is good but is bogus in many parts parts. Buddha was the most poweful warrior of His times. He had proved it. ANd later, when Buddhist monks were attacked He taught them the famous martial arts...now known as Tai-chi, Kung-fu...etc. They all owe their origin to Buddha. And even Jesus had picked up chain to drive out the scoundrels from the temple. Krishna picked up arms to elimiante violence from the society. SO did Rama and Mohammad. Elimination of violence thru violence is Non- violence. When an enemy country attacks will we not kill them ???? This is perfect Non-violence. And, I do not think that anybody can call sugery a violence !! Some foolish people did so in post-Buddha period which harmed Ayurveda. And they wrongly ascribe it to Buddha. Of course, surgery should and is the last option. Even in allopathy !! Ram, Krishna being called meat-eaters is not blasphemy, rather ignorance and foolishness. Inabilty to understand words and terms and complete failure in understanding the spiritualism of India, based on Kundalini dynamics and the play of 3 Gunas ( Satva Rajas and Tamas) leads to such baseless propositions in the name of intellectualism. Intellectual fundamentalism is the greates danger to the society today. We have to transcend intellecetual level and delve into the higher realms of consciousness to understand the Vedas & Vedic traditions. And well ...today even Brahmins and all are eating non-veg. This is degeneration of the society. Several police officers have raped innocent girls. Does it mean that rape is a Police-job ? No true Shiva or Kali worshippers can eat non-veg. The vamacharis who try to awaken their Tamasik traits for worldly pleasures do this. Its well known in Tantra that this leads to their downfall and rebirth in netherworld of insects and mosquitoes etc. best regards, Yashendra p s <tightbrwn76 > wrote: Vegeterianism is neither a facet of Hindu nor of Vedic philosophy. The Kshtriya class were prone to eating meat. There are kinds of vegetables that tend to be more tamasic than certain meats and hence are also incompatible with the philosophy.
