Guest guest
Greetings all, I have recently had a reading with a vedic astrologer, and am now considering buying a triratna with emerald, blue sapphire, and white sapphire. My question is, does it matter what metal I have the gems set in? My sun is mildly malefic, and so I thought gold might be a bad idea. What about silver and platinum? Does it really matter? Thank you, Bryon
Guest guest
Hi Byron, It really doesn't matter. In your case it's silver if you have small budget, or white gold if you have higher budget. White gold is MUCH stronger than silver. Stones size is not important, that's a matter of budget. The main important point is good quality (100%-85% clean). Finding a clean emerald is expensive. White Sapphire and Blue Sapphire are hard to find unheated, in natural state. But it is possible if you have the funds and insist on certification. Then there is the matter of design. It could be a ring with a larger center stone (like white sapphire if you're poor), and matching cut smaller sides stones of emerald and blue sapphire. This could also be pendant. Size and quality of gems depends on your "means" - but purity (amala) is necessary for Jyotish quality. Bad quality gems, like oiled emeralds (you cannot oil clean emeralds), are deemed inauspicious according to Shastra. Best wishes... Guest guest
So, if the metal doesn't matter, yellow gold is OK too? Also, I take it any of the PGA founders and members are safe places to buy. (I'm looking at some triratna's for sale from jasna gems, http://www.planetarygems.com ) Also, I wanted to ask about heated gems. What happens to a gem when it's heated? Is it's auspiciousness lessened, destroyed, or are they inauspicious like flawed stones? I ask because there are many lovely stones for sale on ebay that claim to be unheated, but because of the prices they go for I have my doubts. What would happen if a heated stone was put into a ring or pendant with a jyotish quality unheated stone by accident? Also, I noticed on your website that moon-gems and jupiter-gems should not be worn with mercury gems. Does that just mean in the same piece of jewelry, or should they not be worn on the body together at all? I ask because, if I'm not confused, my moon is the ruler of my nakshatra (rohini) and is elevated in Taurus, and Jupiter is ruler of my next maha-dasha, and it is in the sign of pisces that it rules. Guest guest
Hi - edit replies below --- John <ionesc0 (AT) hotmail (DOT) com> wrote: > So, if the metal doesn't matter, yellow gold is OK too? ---Yes. > > Also, I take it any of the PGA founders and members are safe places > to buy. If you have problems with any PGA member DO kindly submit a complaint. The PGA has a ways to go before it is really "pure." > > Also, I wanted to ask about heated gems. What would happen if a heated > stone was put into a ring or pendant with a jyotish quality unheated > stone by accident? ---We have seen that in spite of heat treatment, if a ruby is clean and beautiful it brings good luck. The only reason its an issue is because of one statement in the entire Puranas, which says burning gems is bad luck. My own company supplies talismans with unheated rubies and sapphires (no loose gem sales) and double certify it's certificate. > > Also, I noticed on your website that moon-gems and jupiter-gems > should not be worn with mercury gems. Sure, use Yellow Sapphire, but insist on independent certification (although I am not convinced that heated gems are anything but as good as their quality.).
