dear shiv bhakts

om namo bhagawate rudraya

there is a general perception that shaligram is worshipped by

vaishnavaites and not shaivaites as it represents goddess of wealth

lakshmi and many puranas have eulogised the worshipping of shaligram

for pleasing laxmi and vishnu.

there are very rarely available shivling shaligrams in which instead

of the chakras, a shivling is carved naturally within the

shaligram. as is the case with all shaligrams, they carry a small

quantity of gold which is mostly lost in natural processs by the

time it is taken from the river and came to the homes of the

devotees for worshipping. while worshipping a shaligram pleases

laxmi, worshipping a shaligram with gold in it makes goddess laxmi

dwell in that place.

the miraculous part of all shaligrams is that only in the shivling

shaligrams, we find the entire shivling within the shaligram is made

up of gold and in all shivling shaligrams, traces of gold are

visible. by worshipping the shivling shaligram with a tulasi leaf

and a bilva patram, the shiv bhakt gets the blessings from both lord

shiva and goddess laxmi. those devotees who are in grihastha and

improve their financial matters are recommended for worshipping the

shivling shaligram containing a gold shivling within it as it is

believed to grant wealth to the worshipper.

i came into contact with a supplier in nepal and knowing our group

activities in promotion of shiv bhakti, he has requested to make

these rarest golden shivling shaligrams at an inexpensive range

starting from rupees one thousand onwards. shiv bhakts desirous of

these golden shivling shaligrams may contact on my personal address.

in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes

Hari Om! Hari Om Tat Sat!

Namaskaragalu!

I am not sure about the Gold makes Sri Matha Mahalakshmi dwell. She dwells

where Sri Paramapurusha dwells.

Regardless all Sri Saligrams are Sri Maha Vishnu swaroopams only.

Worshipping any good Sri Saligram makes Sri Mother Maha Lakshmi pleased.

=========Taken from Sri Jaya Tirtha Charan Dasan's Saligram web site

======================

In the Padma Purana Lord Siva declares the greatness of salagrama sila as

follows;

mallinga kotibhi drsthi yad phalam pujiti |

salagrama sila yamtu ekasyam iva tad bhaved ||

"The merit obtained by seeing and worshipping hundreds of thousands of

My Lingams, is equivalent to that obtained by worshipping one single

salagrama sila."

ato'dhisthana vargesu suryadisviva murtisu |

salagrama silaiva syad adhisthanottamam hareh ||

The Lord resides in many places in which he may be

worshipped, but of all places Salagrama is the best. ( Skanda Purana )

salagrama sila rupi yatra tisthati kesavah |

tatra devasurayaksa bhuvanani catur dasa ||

With Keshava in the form of Salagrama sila reside all the devatas,

asuaras, yaksas and the fourteen worlds. ( Padma Purana )

However having said all that, there are verses encouraging the worship and

service of Lord Siva for Vaishnavas as mentioned and collected in Hari

Bhakti Vilas:

such as in the Shivaratri information and observances herein:

DRSTVA PRANAMITA YENA SNAPITA PUJITA TATHA

YAJNA KOTI SAMAM PUNYAM GAVAM KOTI PHALAM BHAVET

(HARI BHAKTI VILASA 5/384 from SKANDA PURANA)

Lord Siva spoke to Skanda, his son, saying that any person who has seen

Salagram Sila, paid obeisances to Him, bathed and worshipped Him, has

achieved the results of performing ten million sacrifices and giving ten

million cows in charity.

PUJITO'HAM NA TAIR MARTYAIR NAMITO'HAM NA TAIR NARAH

NAKRTAM MARTYA LOKE YAIH SALAGRAM SILARCANAM

(HARI BHAKTI VILASA 5/396 from SKANDA PURANA)

(Lord Siva speaks to his son, Skanda) In this mortal world, if anyone does

not worship Salagram Sila, I do not at all accept any of their worship and

obeisances.

So there is no need for getting only a Gold Shiv Ling saligram to get the

blessings. All Saligrams are same and LORD Shri Purusha dwells in them.

dear shivbhakt pradeep ji

thanks for your added information on the significance of shaligrams

and various references.

however, your concluding remark that "there is no need to get only

gold shivling shaligram and all shaligrams are same" is not true and

is your personal opinion. shaligrams with various chakras and even

the shivlings are all having different significances attributed to

it. the way you concluded, you would also say that all gods are

same and we need not worship only shiva. it is the individual

choice, preference or prediliction of the devotee to focus on which

form of god or which form of holy natural object he or she worship.

you cannot impose your views by saying THERE IS NO NEED TO WORSHIP

ONLY THIS GOD AND ALL GODS ARE SAME.

also no where in my mail i said this is the only shaligram which

needs to be worshipped and you are putting your own words and

suggesting as if i recommended that this is the only shivling which

needs to be worshipped.

shivbhakt pradeep ji, kindly note that in the group dedicated to

lord shiva, we keep discussing and sharing information on various

holy objects and forms related to lord shiva. suppose if one person

writes about the significance of narmadalingam, you need not jump in

to conclude that one need not worship only narmadalingam and all

lingams are equal. similarly when we discuss one particular mukh

rudraksha and its benefits as elucidated by lord shiva himself, you

need not jump in and say that all rudraksha are equal and one need

not get only this rudraksha.

kindly do not discourage and hurt the sentiments of the shiv bhakts

by such comments. this group is highly grateful to you for your

positive contributions and hence kindly desist from such advices.

we are planning to write the significance of each shiv temple and i

am afraid you would again jump in to say that there is no need to

worship only this temple and all temples are the same.

Hari Om! Hari Om Tat Sat!

To the self of Shri Pandit Arjunji, dasomsi.

You stressed that Ammavaru Sri Maha Lakshmi dwells where Sri Shiva Gold

Saligram is present. My jiva expressed that SHE dwells where Sri Maha Vishnu

dwells and HE exists in all Saligrams with or without chakras; with Gold or

without Gold.

Regarding Shivalingams, Narmada shiva linga needs no pradistha pooja unlike

any man made lingam.

My jiva will bow out of this great group and keep my self focused on my Lord

GowriShankara deeksha's. Let you and other high spiritual souls in this

group decide.

Hey Mahadeva, if I have intentionally hurt your bhakthas, then punish me,

however if my jiva has given the satya updaesham, bless all your bhakthas.

Hey Rudra prove Satya Meva Jayade!

dear pradeep ji

om namo bhagawate rudraya

again you are missing the bone of contention. did i, in any part of

the message, said goddess mahalaxmi dwells "ONLY" in this

shaligram. let me reiterate one last time the objective of our

mails and messages. whenever we write on a particular form of god,

particular festival, particular way of worship, particular holy item

or a particular temple, we write the significance of that

particiular specific thing, IT DOES NOT IN ANY WAY DENOTE OR CONNOTE

YOUR SURMISE OF UNDERMINING OTHERS.

this particular remark smacks critical analysis with a negative bias

as it is sounding "so what a big deal about this particular thing,

god dwells in all other things also"

as regards your observation that laxmi dwells where vishnu exists,

it is a general observation. in mahashivapuran lord shiva clearly

mentions that where ekmukhi rudraksha is worshipped, goddess laxmi

dwells in that place and never leave that place. similarly while

mentioning the significance of bilva patram also it is mentioned

that goddess laxmi dwells. this rudraksha and bilva patram are used

by shaivaites and in shiva archanas and vishnu is not in the scene,

so you say that these are wrong? yes, at a macro level every one

knows that all forms of gods and goddesses came from lord rudra as

mentioned in shivapuran but that does not mean individual

significances are undermined with a generalised remark.

in this diverse cultural world, all various diverse forms and kinds

are followed without criticisng another, for each follow a

particular thing according to his own liking, choice or convenience.

with best wishes and blessings
