Guest guest
dear shiv bhakts om namo bhagawate rudraya the shivapuran, vidveshwar samhita, chapter 14 gives comprehensive narration of how weekdays were given by lord shiva, which i translate succinctly in english below: the first day of the week was meant for lord shiva himself and the ruler of this day is sun who gives health. the second day of the week was meant for shakti and the ruler of this day is moon who gives wealth. the third day of the week was meant for kumaraswamy and the ruler of this day is mars who cures diseases. the fourth day of the week was meant for vishnu and the ruler of this day is mercury who gives nutrition or development. the fifth day of the week was meant for brahma and the ruler of this day is jupiter who gives longevity of life. the sixth day of the week was meant for indra and the ruler of this day is venus who gives enjoyment or pleasures. the seventh day of the week was meant for yama and the ruler of this day is saturn who removes fear of death. worshipping the particular gods on these particular days is recommended for a person who wish to get the results given by those respective lords or planets. shiv bhakts may wonder why sunday was attributed as the day of lord shiva when in reality, most people follow monday for lord shiva. let us share more light on this aspect and also find out why sunday is not followed by shiv bhakts for worshipping lord shiva. in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes pandit arjun
Guest guest
Panjit jee, shat shat Namaskar. I am interested in the worship of Narmada shivlingam, also tell me about the parad lingam,it is said placing it in North east direction brings in Untold wealth and blessings of Lord Rudra,Now i am not clear with the directions, should the yoni and or Lingam be in the North east direction, are there any special mantras for parad shivlingam. Thanks G chopra.
Guest guest
Hari Om! Hari Om Tat Sat! Namaskaragalu! North is the direction of Sri Vamadeva, Sri Kubera, Sri Lakshmi. North east is the direction of Ishana or Maha Linga. Yes placing in the North East brings auspiciousness to the worshipper and the place. Worshipping with Bilva leaves pleases Lord Shiva and Sri Maha Lakshmi. Sri Matha Maha Lakshmi has a mantra in her ashtotram called "Om Bilva Rupaye Namah". You have to get Guru Deeksha to do Shiva Linga pooja at home. Parad Shiva Lingam will need to have pradhistha pooja, unlike Sri Narmada Shiva Linga. The lingam pedestal or Gowmukha has to face North if you are facing east. If you face North, the GowMukha has to face east. These are the only two positions allowed for Grihastras as per Agambam. Now regarding "untold wealth" does not mean you become very rich. Whatever can contain in your fist will stand the rest will fall off. Shiva Siddhantham!!! In my opinion worshipping Lord Shiva itself is the most biggest wealth your jiva can ever ever ever get! Subham Mastu! Sarvam Sri Krishna Arpanamastu! Shivaya Namah Om! Shiva Vashi! _____ [] On Behalf Of Manjit Chopra Thursday, July 13, 2006 11:34 AM Re: weekdays attributed by lord shiva Panjit jee, shat shat Namaskar. I do simple puja - offer some milk, wash with water, offer some fruit or nuts and do 2 malas of panchakshari. I have a regular ShivaLinga (not Narmada or Parad) that I bought at Haridwar and the base faces east. Guest guest
Hari Om! Hari Om Tat Sat! Namaskarams! Yes face North and do pooja. When your self is ready, Guru will be sent by the Maha Siddha Parameshwara. Pradishta pooja is required for man made shiva lingams. If you have been doing this for a long time, Lord Shiva will send someone to you.wait and see. Blessed are you! Subhammastu! SInce siva is nothing but oneness, why these methodologies are being followed ? worshipping with dedicated heart is not enough ? I got a doubt that sidda purushas are followed their own way to attain siddhi. Guest guest
I for once follow what is in the book. Contrary to what others have advised me, I consider Sunday for Siva as per Siva Purana. But thren again, within this group itself....or maybe somewhere else, I have read that it is not appropriate to offer anything to deities in a temple on Sunday. Is this true? Can anyone shed some light on it? Sincerely, Bhupendra. , "panditarjun2004" <panditarjun2004 wrote: > > dear shiv bhakts > om namo bhagawate rudraya > > the shivapuran, vidveshwar samhita, chapter 14 gives comprehensive > narration of how weekdays were given by lord shiva, which i > translate succinctly in english below: > > the first day of the week was meant for lord shiva himself and the > ruler of this day is sun who gives health. > > the second day of the week was meant for shakti and the ruler of > this day is moon who gives wealth. > > the third day of the week was meant for kumaraswamy and the ruler of > this day is mars who cures diseases. > > the fourth day of the week was meant for vishnu and the ruler of > this day is mercury who gives nutrition or development. > > the fifth day of the week was meant for brahma and the ruler of this > day is jupiter who gives longevity of life. > > the sixth day of the week was meant for indra and the ruler of this > day is venus who gives enjoyment or pleasures. > > the seventh day of the week was meant for yama and the ruler of this > day is saturn who removes fear of death. > > worshipping the particular gods on these particular days is > recommended for a person who wish to get the results given by those > respective lords or planets. > > shiv bhakts may wonder why sunday was attributed as the day of lord > shiva when in reality, most people follow monday for lord shiva. > let us share more light on this aspect and also find out why sunday > is not followed by shiv bhakts for worshipping lord shiva. > > in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes > pandit arjun >
Guest guest
dear shivbhakt jamnadas ji om namo bhagawate rudraya the relevent sanskrit sloka from the shivmahapuran is scanned and posted in the pictures section of the group. since lord shiva himself is mentioning that sunday is meant for him and for planet sun, i requested other learnt shiv bhakts to throw more light on as to why monday is observed by all shiv bhakts for lord shiva instead of sunday. i once again request the learnt shiv bhakts to share their knowledge on why this sunday is not followed for lord shiva. as regards your observation of not worshipping any gods in temples on sunday, i am not aware of the same as i have seen ALL TEMPLES ACROSS THE GLOBE getting devotees and doing prayers and poojas in these temples even on sunday without any weekly holiday or any other reason. in the north especially for bhairava and kali temples, people offer all kinds of goods mainly on a sunday. there is also another belief that one shall not offer water to a tulasi plant on a sunday. learnt shiv bhakts may shed more light on any truth in these beliefs and if so, any logic or reasoning behind the same. in praise of lord shiva and with best wishes pandit arjun , "b_jamnadas" <b_jamna> wrote: > > I for once follow what is in the book.
