Sankara preached that this world is Mithya, which does not mean absence of everything or vacuum. He Himself defined the word Mithya as “Sadasat Vilakshana”. It means it is neither true nor untrue. It is true because it is giving entertainment to the Lord. The Lord created the Universe for entertainment as said in Veda (Ekaki Na Ramate). If the creation is untrue then the Lord is again left over alone and thus there is no entertainment to the Lord. But Veda says that the Lord is entertained and His wish cannot become false, because He is called as ‘Satya Kamah’ by Veda. But the creation is just His imagination only and is not a materialised form. Therefore, the truth is negligible because the imagination is made of the weakest mental energy. The imagination cannot be considered as existing item. When you are walking with a person imagined by your mind, no body says that you are two persons. Therefore, anything which is negligible can be treated as non-existent

and hence it cannot be also treated as true. In this angle Sankara convinced the theory of His preacher called as Gauda Pada who propagated the Ajativada. This means that the world is not at all born. The reason for this as given by Gauda Pada is that anything is produced from something, which is also produced from some other thing. This chain leads to ad-infinitum (Anavastha Dosha), which means that there is no beginning or end for this chain. He also says that the second reason is that we do not see anything produced from something, which has no birth. Therefore, these two reasons conclude that this Universe is not at all produced.

This is another form of the theory of Bhuddhists called as Sunya Vada. But Sankara modified this and gave existence as well as non-existence to the world through the theory of Mithya Vada. But this Mithya is from the angle of the Lord. The world is imagination for the Lord and not for the soul because the soul is a part and parcel of this universe only. Therefore, for the soul the world is completely real. In fact the soul is Mithya compared to the world. The reason is compared to the content of energy and power of the world, the energy and power of the soul is very negligible. Therefore, from the angle of the world the soul is Mithya.

The advaita scholar takes the reverse of this and says that the world is Mithya from the angle of the soul. The drop is negligible from the angle of the ocean but the ocean is not negligible from the angle of the drop. The ocean is negligible for the Lord, which is His imagination. Even the ocean of imagination is negligible from the angle of the imagining person. Therefore, the world is completely true from the angle of the individual soul.. Sankara preached the concept of universe from the angle of the Lord because He Himself was the incarnation of Lord Siva. Lord Siva destroys the entire world just by one wish. An imagining person can destroy his entire imaginary world just by one wish. Sankara also proved His theory by practical demonstration. He swallowed the molten lead like a cup of drink. For Him the molten lead is just an imagination. Sankara entered through the bolted doors of the house of Mandana Misra because the house is just His imagination. But

His disciples could not drink the molten lead because they are individual souls and are just drops of this entire world. Ramanuja preached the world as perfect true entity. Ramanuja is the incarnation of Adi Sesha, who is the serpant present around the neck of Lord Siva like garland. Adi Sesha is an individual soul. Therefore, Ramanuja preached the concept of the world from the angle of an individual soul. Again Madhva declared Himself as the son of Vayu, who is one of the Angels governed by the Lord. Therefore, Madhva was also the incarnation of an individual soul only and hence supported the view of Ramanuja only.

Thus the concept of Universe is complete from the angles of both the Lord and the soul through the preaching of the three divine preachers. Similarly Sankara declared Himself as the Lord (Sivah Kevaloham). The word Kevala means that He alone is the Lord. Since He was the incarnation of the Lord, His theory is correct from His angle. Ramanuja and Madhva preached that the individual soul is completely different from the Lord. This is again correct from their angle. Thus the theory becomes complete from the angles of both the Lord and the individual soul. Well! If you really feel that you are the human incarnation of the Lord you can preach like Sankara. If you feel that you are an individual soul, you should preach the theory of Ramanuja and Madhva. Your inner consciousness is your best judge of your own preaching.

Actually sir, they are the same person. Even now, the Shri Chakra,

the most Holy and powerful Yantra of Shakti is worshipped in the Maths

established by Shankar. Why would they do that- the Shri Chakra is

clearly a Shaktic/Tantric object, and can only be worshipped as such.

The whole point of the story is that even an enlightened soul refused

to accept the Divine Mother, and hence had to be taught a lesson. This

is not insulting to Shankar, as many have interpreted. In fact it

shows his greatness, as for how many people would Shiv and Shakti

personally come down- will they come down for the millions of sinners

who never take name of God?

But they came down for Shankar, as he refused to accept the Divine in

all its qualities, and for this reason alone his Moksha had stalled.

In the classic book "Autobiography of a Yogi",the authors Guru Sri

Yukteswar says "Even in Astral World(Heaven) people arent perfectly

happy. It pains them when someone misrepresents the Truth. They always

try to keep their conduct in acordance with the Truth".

The Truth isnt what is written in Shastras, but one that Gyanis feel

for themself in Samadhi. If your local paanwala says there is no God,

no one cares. But when a higher soul like Shankar says there is no

Shakti, all is Maya, then that shakes the heavens, as it is against

the Truth.

To show this is not my personal theory, I will end with a quote by Sri

Aurobindo(in the Hour of God), who also felt remorse at the way

Vedantis slur Shakti:

"Does she stand between you and your Lord? She is Sita. Pray to her,

and she will stand aside and show you his face. But presume not to

separate Ram and Sita, to cast her into a distant Lanka so you can

have Ram for youself.....rather go thru her, she will lead you in the

surest way to Bliss. Nature is Power of God himself".

Thankyou very much Surya,

It was a beautiful post...

Yes you are right that the universe, and soul are relatively false for

each other and if we see from the eyes of the lord both seems false.

But i personally like the idea of Tantra which says God does not

creates/imagines the universe. He becomes the universe.

Hence in Tantrik definition (which is nearer to logica and truth), the

universe is the body of the lord and nothing in this world is false.

All is true because they are truth's body.

with love

Yes Surya, I agree with you. The World may seem fake from point of

view of God, but it is real to us. Many Vedantis who preach that world

is fake are actually closer to Buddhists, as you say.

But I think Babajis view is better(the Tantrik view)- since Shiv

created the World, and it is a part of him, how can it be fake?

Denying the world, or any part of it means denying Shiv. Thats why

Tantra lays more stress on Jivanmukti, rather than on any heaven after

death.

God is truth. This means that God is infinite power. The creation is just His imagination and is almost not true. The imagining person is said to truly exist. The world, which is just His imagination and which is completely not nothing. The world is made of an iota of energy of God. God is like the infinite ocean of energy. Compared to God the world is almost nothing. Thus this entire creation is under the full control of God. Just like the person doing some imagination creates an imaginary world in him, God created this imaginary world in Him. The imagining person can fully control the world. He can transform any item into any other item. He can raise a dead body in His imaginary world. All the miracles of human incarnations can be explained only by this concept.

God who is present in the human incarnation does all these miracles only to establish this concept. If the world is equally true, then the world is equally powerful to God. In such case God cannot do whatever He likes. Since the world is least powerful and God is most powerful, God controls the entire world like a very strong person controlling very weak person. Thus the word truth indicates the omnipotent nature of God. When we say that this world is not true, it indicates the negligible power of the world. Suppose a small ant is on your shirt, will you say that yourself and the ant are present in the house? The ant is negligible and is treated as nothing. Therefore, a person who knows this concept surrenders to God and accepts Him as the saviour. In his eyes the entire world looks like an ant before God. You are a tiny particle in this ant-world. You can understand your position by putting a relative scale.

Assume that this ant is Infinite Ocean of energy. You are an iota of that ocean. This means your power is negligible before the power of this entire nature. The world is like the ocean and you are like a drop in it. God is like the ocean and the world a drop in God. You must understand this simile not in terms of volume but in terms of the intensity of the power. When we utter the word God, we immediately imagine Him as a very large figure with unlimited boundaries. The space is largest but as no power as it is treated has nothing. The atom bomb is very small but it has enormous power. Therefore, our idea about God should not be in terms of the three-dimensional space. When a person imagines a large city, the city is very huge but the person is very small. But that small person has created, maintains and finally dissolves this huge city. He can do anything in this huge city. Infact He is standing outside this huge city. When He wants to enter into this huge imaginary

city, He will imagine a small form and He identifies Himself with that form. That small form represents the outside person. This imagined form, which is identified by the outside person, is treated as the outside person directly. This imagined small form is the human incarnation. The outside person is God. The imaginary huge city is this world.

Thus God identifies Himself with the human incarnation. From this angle the human incarnation and the God are one and the same. There is another angle in which the human incarnation is not the original God but a part and parcel of God. In this angle God and the human incarnation are treated as father and son. You can experience the Father only through this Son. In the third angle the human incarnation is just sent by God into this world as a messenger with some power. Jesus talked this truth in all the three angles.
