Guest guest Posted July 13, 2006 Report Share Posted July 13, 2006 Musical tributes to be paid to Pathak on 100th birth anniv HT Live Correspondent Allahabad, July 13 EMINENT MUSICIAN Pandit Jagdish Narayan Pathak's 100th birth anniversary will be celebrated here on July 15. He was the first registrar of the Prayag Sangeet Samiti. Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Dr Madhu Shukla, lecturer in Prayag Sangeet Samiti and also co-ordinator of SPIC MACAY, Allahabad chapter, said the Samiti would pay tributes to the Late vocalist by conducting a cultural event in the evening which would be studded with the performances of singer Parag Chaudhary from Aurangabad and sitar recital by Sahitya Kumar Nahar. "In the morning, pujan, archan and havan will take place in Vedic style at Hatkeshwar temple, Mahajani Tola, the birth place of Pandit Jagdish Narayan Pathak. Scholars and musicians will gather on the occasion to pay tributes to the doyen in the field of Indian classical music," said Dr Shukla. Ratnakar Pathak, son of late Jagdish Narayan Pathak and also the owner of Pathak Publications, was also present on the occasion. Jagdish Narayan Pathak had joined Prayag Sangeet Samiti in 1949 and under his guidance, the Samiti made tremendous progress. He also wrote several books for music learners based on Indian classical music. Pathak was held in very high esteem by his disciples who nearly worshipped him because of his immense knowledge coupled with his innate simplicity and humanity.
