Guest guest
Dear Shri Jagannath, I beg to differ with ur view that : " We cannot advocate a sattvic diet to an armyman or a tamasic diet to a priest, no matter what the exigencies." Ayurveda or the Vedic ideology states that every individual is an universe in himself, a replica of the entire creation. To ignore a single individual's well being is to neglect everyone's well-being. Why should an armyman eat tamasik food and block his Being & Becoming ? His life & growth ? His all round development ? And how can the country be served when the individuals' well being is not achieved ????????? To fight a war, and to be successful in battles one does not need to consume non-veg food ( Tamasik). At least the Indians here in the group are aware of their history. Buddha himself was the most powerful warrior of his times. We know the heroes of Ramayana & Mahabharta, the great warriors. Tamasik food is required by those who have become depended upon them. Like the Europeans. They are genetically conditioned to that. .......... Not the Indians.......... Still, all human beings of this earth need to consume only Satvik food if they want complete well-being. Except in exigencies. E.g. I am stuck in such a place or situation where I have to choose between death & Tamasik food. Then, whether a priest or armyman, he can consume anything. Because, the first & foremost thing is our existence (Being). That must be saved. Becoming ( growth) can follow later....And, for 'Becoming' ( growth) Satvik food is essential. True, a conditioned person cannot give up tamasik food in a one go. He will take a long time, maybe many lives !! But there is no way except Satvik food. Nature doesn't care what we like or how we r conditioned. None can escape its laws. Ignorance or inability is no excuse. best regards, Yashendra jagchat01 <jagchat01 > wrote: Dear Group, I always tend to disagree with Todd on the issue of veg vs non-veg, but I also cannot but bow down before his excellent arguments. This brings us to the question, "how much does our own views of life cloud our understanding of illness and its cure?".
