Guest guest
Dear Todd Few points need to be noted here. 1.Vedas, Upanishads, Dharma Shastras, Yoga Sutras collectively are scriptures, and some may add even Bhagvad Gita and Bhagwat also to these. Both ayurveda and astrology are termed 'Upangas' of Vedas. So both these have to follow basics of Veda. This does not of course mean that those who adopt ayurveda should become vegetarians. But recommendations to eat lighter to digest diet may automatically preclude certain foods. One measure of the ease of digestion can be amount of time required to keep the food on fire till it becomes digestible. Those with strong stomach acids (e.g. cat family animals) may find meat easily digestible while some with very poor digestive agni may find even green vegetables require steaminng. Body types and suitable diets discussed by Dr Kelly have some usefulness here. 2. Loss of knowledge due to vegetarianism cult is not a serious issue. When ayurveda itself is undergoing changes, this is inevitable. e.g. The recent emphasis on Panchkarma has arisen due to toxin build up of large order, which, medicines will be too slow to clear up and patients need invasive treatments (dredging?) to detoxify them. Stress on yogasanas and simple cleansing breathing techniques spearheaded by Baba Ramdev is creating flutter in India and soon he is determined to invade west with these arms. This is the first time east is aggressively preaching 'return to inner peace and cleansing' doctrine rather than herbs and decoctions. If world adopts cleasing this 'Air' element of body, the demand on herbs (and perhaps laser guided missiles too) themselves may decline and 'loss of knowledge' may not be a serious issue. It is air element (Vata) which if properly tamed, can lead to spiritual bliss; or other extreme being confusion, endless thinking, Tamas state of mind. On the other hand green portion of nature, vegetables/fruits/grass etc, surviving after taking all the buffeting of air element, remaining calm and happy, teach the mankind also how to face such a mental vata. One principle accepted all over world by all alternative gurus is 'you are what you eat'. comments on free range, owner loved chicken and animals are well supported by this author in earlier post itself. The chicken, when being taken for selling ( as dressed chicken), in pickup vans having wire mesh cages tightly packed in density was seen. It seems they know where they are going. Similarly, goats under transportation were seen, the expression in their moist eyes could clearly tell they knew the end is coming. No noise, no play all limp and drowsy. Cows rescued from slaughter houses were seen in Goushalas. Before they are taken to Goushala, they are kept in a forest, they graze freely, and trauma slowly melts. A special diet of Kanchan tree leaves is given to them. This diet slightly increases fat in the content of milk. Fat means 'sneha' and 'sneha' means friendliness. No doubt the cows slowly return to their merry attitude. The injury to legs deliberately created ( to prove they are sick and worthless and fit for salughter) also cure in forest. This work is going on at Aalegaon, dist. Akola, Maharashtra, India. All this gets done because it is guided by a saintly person. Which religion in world advises pleasure by causing injury and torture/death to other species? Why best way to study love is by having a pet? And there are real life stories where pet proved to be a cancer cure. Craving for some foods and stability/happiness after eating them may be due to spices, sugar/garnishing added to them rather than the food itself. Tests on suitability of each food to each individual according to laws of nature have been given by this author earlier. One more test here: Close your eyes and keep a small piece of basic food (without any spice/processing) on tongue, saliva should come if food is suitable. Just taste, smell itself will be enough. Chewing it should cause more saliva. Our own intelligence should come forward to meet this food and accept it in our body. Everyone try this, irespective of their vegetarian belief. With an open mind, author tried this and knew this to be a perfect test for all foods. When we take food, we are absorbing energy in the food. Charged bodies exchange energies. IF energy exchange occurs we get feeling of happiness immediately in brain.
