Guest guest
I read somewhere. Triphala has been called tridosha balancer. it brings balance kapha vata pitta. Inface i read somewhere that when in doubt give triphala another saying that goes is " if you dont have mother dont worry as long as you have Triphala" If that is the fact for any ailment should triphala not cure everything. Just my 2 cents from layman's point of view. waiting for some interesting replies.
Guest guest
Dear Jay, When used by a relatively healthy person, Triphala is a great preventor of disease. But I cannot say the same about people who are seriously ill. However it can be used as an aid to restore balance in any condition. Triphala helps the immune system and keeps the digestive, eliminative and lymphatic system healthy, besides cleaning the blood. It is really a super remedy. My mother was greatly in love with her blood pressure medication which a highly qualified mainstream doctor had prescribed for her. She could not imagine a day without the medicine. If I tried to dissuade her she would plead, "You have taken away all other english medicines from me, should you take away this too?" Such was her emotional attachment to this last straw of hers. I knew that her digestive system was not working well, she suffered from severe acidity and gas. She was also constipated and frequently had spells of weakness. I suspected that her digestive system was the reason behind the abnormally high blood pressure. I gave her Triphala, Liv 52, and a senna+bael+isabgol preparation for the constipation. This improved her general condition tremendously. When she felt better and found confidence in herself I made her stop the BP medicine and offered her Sarpagandha instead. She is now much better and I will stop the Sarpagandha after some time. Patients often use the medicines as a prop. Thus the healer should not only diagnose the illness, suggest lifestyle changes, promote better nutrition and precribe medicines, but also know when to stop the medicines and teach the patient to stand on his own leg. However nowadays we need to have brief spells of remedies like Triphala and Liv 52 as we are being constantly bombarded with toxins. But we must also remember that there are various methods of preparing and using Triphala which a Vaidya alone knows.
