Guest guest
Dear All I have some questions about syllabus of some of the subjects of B.A course conducted by KKSU Nagpur. First and most important in the subject of Shrusthikarana (Creation). It is mentioned that Gunas and Dravya should be discussed. The topic of PanchaTatwa is as well included. Now the problem is that the books recommended dont address Dravya-Guna-Tatwa in detail. One of the primary book is BPHS by several publishers. This book(in all most all editions) has one chapter on Shrustikarana but does not clarify What is the meaning of the terms Guna and Tatwa. Here we have to take shelter of other Vedic Darshans like Sankhya, Naya,VAisheshik etc. Now in the syllabus it is not clear which Darshan should be followed. It seems that BPHS has a tilt towards Sankhya but it could as well be Vaisheshik. In the view of lack of proper material(to be considered as one full subject) Shri Sanjay Rath's paper of 2004 Nagpur Conference is considered as 'text book'! I think (and I may be wrong) Shri Sanjay in that paper has dealt the subject of Creations (in the view of Jyotish) vis-a-vis Shankhya darshan. Actually, Sankhya had given 25 tatwas as basis of universe creation. But most important concept is that Triguna Prakurti(TP) and Chetan Purusha(CP). Sankhya considers TP+CP as the basis of universe creations. But it does not consider VyaktaVyakta principle which BPHS mentions. BPHS talks about the Ishwar as Aniruddha etc. But Sankhya does not consider Ishwar as one of the Tatwa. Here we have to take the help of Yoga Darshan. Similarly, VyaktaVyakta principle is well dealt in Charak Samhita. But Charaka has accepted only 23 tatwas. So we find so many Sankhya variations. To understand these in my humble opinion Syllabus should include at least introductions to Various vedic Darshans. Then it should be clearly stated Jyotisha follows which Darshan and Why? Similarly the concept of Mahabhutas should be dealt seriously. Every Darshan has given reasons of formation of each Mahabhuta. What is Vedic Jyotish's point of view about formation of Mahabutas this should be included in the syllabus. Sankhya considers 5 mahabhutas where as Vaisheshik takes 4 and Aayuerved takes 5. Now we must mention what is Vedic Jyotish opinion about this? Additionally, Sankhya's 5 Bhutas and Aayurved's 5 Bhutas are different. So Vedic Jyotish should clearly state its understanding on this. The concept of Kala(Time), Disha(Directions),Mana(Mind),and Atma (Soul) and their analysis & utility in Vedic Jyotish should as well be part of Shrusthikarana(Creation). Although, syllabus includes Nava Dravya and 24 Gunas but does not state from which darshan this is to be taken. It should be made clear. These are some of the problems which I faced last year while teaching to students of B.A. 1 year. Although, I taught them with my limited konwledge and grasp of above mentioned topics but I feel that syllabus of the subject requires change and proper books should be introduced for the same in order to make the subject more interesting. Syllabus makers atleast should clarify their point of view on philosophy of current syllabus and current books recommended for the benefit of one and all. Thanks a lot for your Time and Space.
