Guest guest
Namaste All A few days ago Sri Manjunath had proposed to conduct astrological analysis of the upcoming quaterfinals. He had proposed to analyze the same using Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. I was trying that system too but was unable to decide upon the houses to choose for Football. After some searching on the internet, I came upon a method that made some more sense than using the Nation's chart. I am proposing a hypothesis based on searched methods to analyze a football match. Please remember this is a hypothesis and here for testing if it works. Hypothesis: 1. Make a chart taking the time, place and date of the match 2. The lagna will represent the home team and 7th house will represent the opposite team. 3. If the match is between two outside teams, then, the lagna shall represent the favorite team and 7th house the opposite team. 4. In any match- there are three possibilities: 1. First Teams Wins 2. Second Team Wins 3. Draw or Abandonment 5. Consider the 10th house from the lagna for the home team or favorite team and consider the 4th house of the chart (10th from 7th) for the opposing team. 6. Check the strength of the 10th house, lord and its placement. 7. Check Yogi, Avayogi, Duplicate Yogi and its association with the 10th house, or lord. 8. Check for yogas, etc. First Look Analysis of Italy Vs Ukraine Match June 30th, 2006 Time: 17:00 Hrs Place: Berlin, Germany Lagna represents Italy as they are the favourites (Here I have taken the odds given in the Newspaper for choosing the favorite and it is also quite clear that Italy is favorite to win this match) 7th house represents Ukraine as it is the opposite team The lagna rises in the Avayogi nakshatra. The Avayogi occupies the 10th house. The 10th lord for Italy is in the 8th, but with Yogi and Duplicate Yogi. The 7th house (considered lagna for Ukraine) rises in the nakshatra of Yogi. Jupiter gets connected to its own house (4th house which is 10th house from 7th), as it is in the nakshatra of Rahu. Jupiter is retrograde which brings in the only doubt I have about Ukraine's success. In my view, despite all my football logic, I think there are more chances of Ukraine winning this match. If by some means Italy wins and I am wrong, they are likely to be disgraced and Ukraine are likely to walk with their heads high. Would really value your remarks, thoughts, ideas, and ...... Should we be modifying it? 2. Are there major problems with the analysis, what should we be looking at instead? 3. Any other ideas! Guest guest
Dear List, Has anyone tried looking at the odds offered by the betting houses. They use statistical information and variety of factors like player form, etc to arrive at the odds. They should know better as for them it is REAL money they can make or lose. For many here it is just idle speculation. How many astrologers on this list will bet serouos money on their predictions. The answer is in the question itself :-). If astrologers could really predict outcomes of sporting events with any degree of certainty they will be rolling in some serious dough. Yes, some can alwys say that jyotish is a super science and it is a spiritual pursuit and not to be used for money making etc. as a cop out for a failed prediction. Ofcourse deriving new theories for ancient texts can be a facinating pursuit. My two cents Satish --- Bharat Hindu Astrology <hinduastrology > wrote: > REPOSTING AFTER REMOVING TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS > > Namaste All > > A few days ago Sri Manjunath had proposed to conduct > astrological analysis > of the upcoming quaterfinals. Guest guest
Namaskaar Sri Satish One may have the knowledge, yet not use it. There are different people some of whom are happy only with knowledge. They do not use it for filling their bank accounts. Your statement is a generalization and cannot be used on every person. You must have heard of the terms - Pure Science and Applied Science. Talking about confidence in betting one's own money - We are far from it. This is just a start. Maybe it will die its own death, maybe something can be learnt. Maybe we'll know that this is one activity we better stay away from. Maybe we will find a workable method and yet not make it a means to earn money. What are attempting is not to create a new jyotish but to tackle a particular activity in light of jyotish. We have had no experience with such kind of activity. So, like in other sciences, we create a hypothesis and then, test it against the given know-how. I wish we had more experts commenting on what we should be doing and what to consider in our analysis. Guest guest
Bharatji, If I may slide in my two cents: Knowledge without application is simply information! Like potential, possible energy!! Astrology will always be plagued with questions about the rationality of one over the other parameter or launch pad in jyotish. But one must start somewhere and you have very effectively likened it to the scientific rational process widely utilized in fields other than astrology as well. All epochs can be questioned and even the widely accepted epoch that we all astrologers are conditioned to and accept without batting our eyelids, the moment of birth has been questioned. Life does not really begin, nor does individuality, at the moment of birth! It probably does earlier -- since the process of gestation sees more changes, challenges and adventure than most individuals will after they are born! But pragmatically speaking, the moment of birth is more convenient and easily definable than the moment of conception or other landmarks that might be more natural in some cases than the moment of delivery, and in that framework spanning over months, even the picky details about first cry, show or cutting of the cord etc in most cases are minor variants. Experimentation must be encouraged or else as the story goes, the diamond of knowledge remains buried in the ground. It may as well be a lump of coal! Guest guest
Dear Satish Many feel that earning from gambling is not an honorable way of making a living. For everyone who wins there must be at least an equal amount lost and usually more to cover the taxes and gambling house expenses. Therefore the more gifted take from the less gifted creating a karmic debt. The evils of gambling are well spelled out in the Mahabaharat. Nicholas - SPK Monday, July 03, 2006 10:23 PM Re: Re: Italy Vs Ukraine (Analysis of the 2nd Match) Dear List, Has anyone tried looking at the odds offered by the betting houses. The latter involves statistics (history), temperament, skill of the contestants and other factors. I don't ever remember to betting on any sport myself, but have respect for those that have what it takes to stake their money based on what I'm sure is a reasoned judgment on the intent of their bets. I could be wrong but I think the Mahabharata warns against the evils of betting on the purely lucky like the throw of dice. +++
