Namskarams dear Rohiniranjan!! sooo....are we trying to stir things up a bit? are we a little bored with the current topics and want to get us going on the "save the world" theme? certainly my friend, you can answer your own question just as well as the next jyotish fan....after all you've been around the block quite a few times over the last 30-40 years haven't you? what did our revered KN Rao used to say? He told us to get a job!! a real job!! because otherwise we wouldn't be doing the world much good at all...after all, don't most of the folks consulting jyotishis only want a better cooking fire? as for more light, i doubt that they are interested in that unless they are writing letters to their local government representative...almost NO ONE ever comes to a Jyotishi asking about salvation...or spiritual questions...they all want to know when they will get a better job, a better wife, a better son or daughter, a better everything material...they couldn't care less about salvation...that's not what we're for according to the masses...we are here for the thrills of peering into the future labour market...the future marriage market....the future hospital market...the save the soul market is left to the preachers of all faiths. i think that jyotish can serve us to a certain extent, especially the jyotishis themselves if they are interested in spiritual research, or even mundane research, like K N Rao used to do...that is interesting and might help society in the long run to a certain extent (if the usefulness can ever be proved that is)... it seems to be clear to me that Jyotish is mostly interesting and helpful for us practitioners of the Holy Science...as for the general public, all they want is a new job, or wife...let them have it... in the Service of Love Divine, as ever, visvanathan
