Guest guest
Dear PVR, thanks for sharing your knowledge.. abt the mantra's, i am not aware much but heard that one should not tell others the mantra one wants to attain siddhi and second since gayatri mantra is thought through guru upadesham during upanayam, ti should also not be told...i absolutely share your views on this. abt the pronunication of gayatri, my friend has done really study on this and give below what i learned . Unfortunately, in the web, we dont have correct audio for gayatri mantra...as per rig veda, the break is four times...first at om bhur bhuvah swaha ...second at tatsaviturvareneeyam, third at before "dhiyo yo na "prachodayaat". i have one difference in the word.."varenyam" ...some texts contain the word"vareneeeyam". I believe it is probably old rigveda and many of the rigvedic brahmins following madhwa tradition pronounce it this way...i feel both should be alright when i read your words ""In old days, Gayatri mantra was the first mantra taught to a young disciple and one was expected to > > > read a few lakhs (preferably 2.4 million times). It > > > does nadi sodhana and cleans up all nadis and gives > > > self-realization. No wonder so many people were so > > > spiritually advanced in old times. We are living in > > > a deepening Kali yuga and even those who are taught > > > this important mantra are ignoring it or doing it > > > only a handful of times a day."" i remembered my friend sri.muralidharan who used to strongly recommend only gayatri mantra japa for attaining life purpose...he has compiled excellant material on gayatri and it can be downloaded from www.ambaa.org site. now my question is could you throw more light on brahma yagna and brahma tarpana...i heard it is part of daily sandhya vandana in olden days...but i am not finding that these days... with respects sriganeshh
