Guest guest
Respected Guru jis In the Vedas it is said that we should devote ourselves for praying during the "Sandhya" time, twilight. I have few doubts: 1. Does it mean in the morning twilight also? 2. I am not aware how to calculate the exact duration of twilight, its start and end. Does it start after sun rise or does it end at sunrise. Please share your knowledge in this. EMail:iliketobeanindian
Guest guest
You may be referring to the trikaalsandhayaavandam, which involves invoking Bhagavathy Gayathry devi just at dawn (when the sun rises), exactly at noon (when the sun is at its zenith) and in the evening (when the sun is just about to set). Actually the ritual involves worshipping the three distinct aspects of the devi, such as Shri Saraswathy devi at dawn, Shri Gayathry devi at noon and Shri Savithry devi at dusk. However due to the constraints of modern life, office going people simply miss the noon prayers or couple it with their evening prayers. The question about the importance of the time of prayers is very relevant, as all the three times of the day involve the transition of the sun and hence are important. However you can do your prayers by noting the times of sunrise/set in your location; but most importantly its the power of our Bhakthi towards reaching HIM. Guest guest
Dear kamlesh, //simply miss the noon prayers or couple it with their evening prayers.// the noon sandhya vandana and gayatri japa should be done only in the morning time along with morning sandhya...and shld not be coupled with evening prayers... You are absolutely correct as long as bhakthi and shraddha is there, that is sufficient....because gayatri japa is so great and powerful. sriganeshh
