Could someone knowledgeable on the list, please help me with a doubt

that I have?

Pakistan was carved out of India in 1947. The time zone of Pakistan

now is 5.00. And time zone of India is 5.30.

For births previous to August 1947 at places in erstwhile undivided

India, the time zone should be 5.00 or 5,30?

Will be grateful for a resolution of this doubt. Change of timezone

makes a tremendous difference to the chart.

Dear All,

IST of India i.e., 5.30 hrs East is taken based on the longtitude of 82.4 degrees (Varanasi) being in the middle of India. For change of every 1 degree there is a time difference of 4 minutes either side. So when Pakistan considered a time zone of 5.00 it is under the consideration of this longtitudinal difference.

JHora clearly identifies the time difference and you only need to select the place and the standard time of that country automatically pop up.

Hope I am of help to you.

Regards

Ravi Nair
