Celestial Conjunction Could Have A Surprise World Cup Winner

Indian astrologers have predicted that an upcoming conjunction of

Mars with Saturn could throw up a surprise winner in the football

World Cup, a local news report said Sunday.

 

The conjunction of fiery Mars with disciplined Saturn would take

place in the constellation of Cancer on Sunday night. This is the

closest the two planets come in more than 12 years.

 

But what is a delight for skywatchers, is being frowned upon by

practitioners of Hindu astrology who term it a "disastrous

encounter."

 

They warn that such a conjunction indicates a period of upheaval.

 

India's ace astrologer Bejan Daruwalla told the Times of India daily

that the FIFA World Cup will have an "unusual winner", because of

the planetary hug.

 

Daruwalla said such a combination upsets the usual order of things.

 

"Mars is like a mongoose and Saturn is the serpent. The fight is

inevitable. There will be many ups and downs," he was quoted by the

paper as saying.

 

"Superstar Ronaldo has been booed by Brazilian fans, Bill Gates

wants to retire, the share market is going haywire. Blair is being

termed Marxist, Argentina scores 6 - all are effects of hot and

cold," he added.

 

But the Indian Rationalists Association was quick to dismiss the

astrologers' claims.

 

Association president Sanal Edamaruku said hundreds of mishaps and

tragedies take place every year but they cannot be attributed to

stars.

 

Hindu or Vedic astrology is among the main astrological systems

which is practiced worldwide. It is commonly used to aid important

decisions in the lives of millions of people in India.
