For the true Lover of God, EVERYTHING done is service to

God... so for the true Lover of God, it is ALL service to God,

regardless if it's "paid work" or "unpaid work/seva/volunteer

work"...those who do seva/volunteer work as a means to "clear their

karma" are thus doing it for self-serving reasons, even if it's done

under a banner of selflessness. Paid or unpaid, seva or volunteer

isn't the issue; intent within the heart of the Lover of God is The

Issue.

AMMA says that none of us are completlly selfless ,but that we should fall

in love with the concept of selflessness and do our best to renounce the

fruit of our actions...

who of us can say that we are completly selfless?AMMAs sun cannot make this

claim. can you?knowing AMMA is totally selfless and that this child has

access to that POWER is enough...

we all do our best...the mind is a tricky foe... the mind will have us

analize this until we die and in the meantime,who gets served?is it the

people who need it?no.its the mind that gets served....have FAITH in HER

POWER in you and find someone to help...spend more time serving as apposesed

to analizing it.FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CONCEPT AND DO YOUR BEST...love you

YES, temba, your words are blessings !

if we really want to help others; the opportunities will come to us;

if we are not prepared at every moment, we might miss these

beautiful opportunities and tests sent to us by Amma

example: three in a car approached by an elderly lady very gently

asking for $1 needed to buy something for her sister and her to eat;

also, asked for a ride; then another ride; turns out she retired

early to take care of invalid sister and recieves only SS which runs

out by end of month; she was very innocent, gentle and silent and

talked only when prompted by questions; she has great faith that God

takes care of her from day to day;

we did help but now in retrospect we could have done it better;

one of the three who did not give, said afterwords "I should have

given something" ; another thing ~ we did not get her name, address,

phone to help in future

a missed opportunity and what if it was truly Amma coming to test us?

as She sometimes does.

lesson for me( personally; not preaching to anyone else) be prepared

to help in all small things first;

let us be inspired by temba, aikya, sweta, surya, and so many others

to do what we can to help others

if this is something new, let us start of with something comfortable

that we can handle and go on from there

let us use what little light, love, unselfishness we have and MORE

WILL BE GIVEN to us

amma bless,

amarnath

<< for the true Lover of God, it is ALL "seva" regardless if

it's "paid work" or "unpaid work"...>>

While this is surely true in general, this discussion is

specifically about the practice of "Guru Seva" -- direct service to

the Guru. For Amma devotees in the US this is unpaid work done

during Her tours, working at Her ashrams and working in designated

service projects that are done in Her name such as Mother's Kitchen,

AIMS, etc.

I myself do unpaid work that I feel to be in Amma's service and in

my paid work I feel that I am serving God also, but I do not

consider it to be the same as if I am able to go to the ashram to

help get ready for tour or work in the kitchen etc. while Amma is

here. I'm not saying it's not equally valuable---just not the same

kind of service.

Peace be with you...this is not just a "general discussion"

about "Guru Seva", although you might want it to be that way and

although it might appear to some that way. Paid or unpaid, well-done

or not-so-well-done, As Lovers of God, EVERYTHING we do,think,feel

is "service" to God--regardless of concepts,labels, judgements...
