Guest guest
"JAMMU, INDIA, June 22, 2006: The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) that manages the yearly pilgrimage to Lord Siva's cave shrine may discard its plans to get technical help in managing the survival of Siva Lingam for longer periods. This, according to sources, has become inevitable in the wake of the raging controversy that the Lingam was man made after it failed to form this season. "The Board sent a team of High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) on May 14 to inspect the track and surroundings of the cave. It found the cave-top totally free from snow and the glacier cover thereon had receded by 100 meters or so. The Siva Lingam site was found dry by another team of Snow & Avalanche Studies Establishment (SASE) was on May 18 to the holy cave shrine to look into the possible causes," the spokesman said. "Through visual inspection and satellite pictures, this team, too, confirmed the receding of glaciers primarily on account of global warming. " If so, that is truly saddening. Could this be the true onset of Kali Yuga?
Guest guest
this is just another aspect.......but life goes on, amarnath being no longer what it was is no reason to believe that theres nothing holy there or that Lord Siva is "angry" at us for some reason but i definately do NOT agree with the greedy capitalists waiting to cash in on the pilgrims and deciding to create an un-natural siva lingam there in the place of the ice lingam.... i sincerely hope that many pilgrims can see past nostalgic attachment and NOT journey to the amarnath cave IF the ice lingam does not show and people start re creating it artificially..... this totally takes away from the spiritual significance of it and helps support greedy capitalism of religious icons. I agree, there's nothing special about a man-made ice lingam, and I would be upset if I made a voyage there, only to see I was duped into seeing an imitation instead of the real thing. It really is too bad if this is true though. I was hoping that possibly some day I might get a chance to see the Amarnath lingam for myself. What's your point? That isn't even relevant to the topic.
Guest guest
If they can falsify as shiva-lingam here they may have flasified other things in the past but were not caught out. this is true, but all we can do is to try to FIND the truth as much as possible. We can do nothing about falsifications made in the past. Just because it was false and people may have fell for it, is no reason to continue worshipping a fake ice lingam. Use rationality and let go of the attachment to historical nostalgia......if we find it to be un-true, let it go with the wind. hold fast only to truth. Guest guest
#@$%^ westerners and their !@#$%@(_( global warming #(*%@^#$# destroying everything! they will pay!!! Global warming may have started in teh west, but they are not the only culprit. Lets not blame them for ALL the world's problems. Beijing and Mumbai have some of the world pollution indexes of any cities in the world. THe HImalayas sit in between two Asian giants with overwhelming populations and the need for industrial growth and improvement, both of which come at the cost of the environment. What must be done in the future is cleaner pollution in India/China. In all my experiences in India, i have not seen the cleanly pollution (if thats even possible) that one can be used in america/europe. Im not sure how china does, but probably the same..... Of corse, that too takes time, money and resources. Hopefully, that will become a major thing in these countries and we will be able to use our vast, educated workforce to improve our own situations, without having to pay the west for their technology. I agree with that view, but you have to convince the wider Hindu community to be more rational. I think Hinduism can perfectly survive with rationality, and some practices/traditions may go with some people, but will stay with others. But it is a shame when people, especially devotees may have been deceived in this way.
Guest guest
IMO, it would be offensive to Lord Shiva and this sacred site to create a fake lingam in the place where this natural lingam has been worshipped as a divine sign from the Lord. If the Lord has not appeard as a Lingam in this place anymore, we do not have to pick up the slack for him. There is a reason for everything. Shiva shows us everything in this Universe is subject to change.
