Guest guest
Dear Pandit Arjunji, Jai Shree Ram You wrote: "you mentioned BPHS giving yogas for nodes and also own signs, exaltation, debilitation and mooltrikon. same were not found in bhrigu and other samhitas and also some medieval books like saravali and others." Anil: These books do not give anything on topics covered by Jaimini. Both Jaimini and Parashar gave combinations involving nodes. In Bhrigu-Sanhitas, charts do not have even lagn and moon! If you see Muhurt-books you will find that Rahu is used in many different ways. Ashtak-varg of Rahu/Ketu is also given in some old texts. Actually they are not used as "Lagn" like other 8 points but their good/bad placements are given. Varah has devoted chapters to Rahu and Ketu in Brihat Sanhita while Bhrigu-Bindu uses Rahu. "since rahu and ketu are enjoying equal status like all other planets with equal stars allocated to them and rahu giving second largest dasha and ketu giving equal dasha of mars and higher dasha of sun, these two must be equal or larger planets and not tiny leftover asteriods in scientific language." Anil: We know that Rahu was given the status of Grah after he managed to drink Amrit. There is other story which says that Rahu took shelter in the hairs of Lord Shiv to save his life and was granted position of Grah. So he was not a planet initially. He could change his position and shift himself between Sun and Moon probably because of small size! Dasha years are not based on size of planets. Sun is largest but has least years. Shukr is quite small but has maximum years. My speculation is that the influence produced by Sun in 6 years is same as that produced by venus in 20 years. Can you compare the size of Budh(17) and Guru(16)? Again years alloted in different dashas are different. So unless we understand the basis on which years are fixed for different dasha systems,we can not explain these variations. Only important point is that "Rahu-Shanivat,Ketu-Kujvat" ie. Dasha of Rahu and Shani should be similar and dasha of Mangal and Ketu should be similar. Incidently, there is 4th type of grah too. These are Aprakash Grahas. These are also given status of grah but they have no physical bodies and hence they do not appear in Dasha order. They do not have light but they are not obstructing light like nodes. Dhoom,Vyatipat,Indrachap,Parivesh and Upketu are calculated on the basis of Sun's longitude. They do become visible under special conditions. eg. Indrachap(rainbow) becomes visible during rains. It will be interesting to see if the longitude of Indrchap matches with visible one. According to BPHS, If varg of house cusp/planet joins Aprakash Grahas,it will give bad results but Dasha of planet in kendr to Dhoom will give good results. Upgrah are called son of grah and they are not at par with grah. 4 types of grahas are all considered grahas.BPHS gives result of all Aprakash Grahas but results of upgrahas(except Gulik) are not included. Results of upgrahas are similar to their names and parents. BTW, Jhora calculations for upgrahas are different from BPHS. Thanks.
