New York, New York (June 12, 2006) Brazilian hair care company, Surya

Nature, brings internationally recognized and award-winning Indian

dancer Uma Sharma to visit Sao Paulo and the Brazilian Amazon this

month, her first visit to Brazil, for dance workshops and cultural

exchange. A foremost expert in Kathak classical dance from India, Uma

Sharma has performed all over the world and is famous for her dance

academy, Bhartiya Sangeet Sadan, in New Delhi. Surya Nature, Inc.

plans to collaborate with Ms. Sharma for a project in 2007 involving

the introduction of Indian dance and feminine values into Brazilian

society.

Clélia Angelon, President of Surya, comments, "The partnership with

Uma Sharma is ideal to "rescue femininity" and women's self esteem,

through dance and beauty, by bringing forward the internal beauty of

women." Approximately 2,000 years old, Kathak is an important

classical dance in India, which was formerly performed in temples and

in the court of Indian kings. Originally appearing in the north of

India, this unique dance style has a rhythmic work of the feet

coordinated with delicate turns of the hands called mudras. Kathak

provides an activation of the individual energy and translates the

necessary balance between the masculine and feminine energies. One of

the objectives of Kathak is to show life in three movements:

creation, preservation and destruction.

Ms. Sharma will not only be offering dance workshops in Sao Paulo

from June 20 through the 26th but she will also be visiting the

Amazon Rain Forest capital city of Manaus, the following week, where

she will perform Kathak for the Amazonian tribe, Dessanas. She will

also be learning their ritual dance in a cultural exchange. Through

the sharing of these native dances, Surya hopes to link two unique

and different cultures, distant in location, in order to demonstrate

that co-creation is possible for peaceful and cooperative living

between nations and their peoples. Adds Clelia, "Surya Nature's

concept is based on the fusion of Brazilian and Indian cultures. This

project brings us great fulfillment."
