Guest guest
Dear George (and greetings to everyone), Today is the first time I've had a break and felt well enough to read the digest. Doug and I are preparing for the move to our new house, and I am doing all the packing up of the trailer. To top it all off, my doctor gave me a new medication to take in place of my Nexium. I began to wake frequently all through the night, to get bad headaches, including, several times, migraines, and to have flu-like feelings in my body ... not to mention other things I won't bring up here. I got out the "patient information" paper (these are notoriously difficult to read: small print, lengthy, etc.). All my "new" symptoms were side effects of the new medication. So yesterday I stopped taking it and went back to the Nexium. I suspect it will take awhile for the other med to completely clear from my body. Anyhow, what you quoted from Big Swami is incredible. I believe this is true across different spirituality belief systems, including "new age" and "positive thinking." It is only when you experience yourself as the hollow reed, the empty vessel, that the passageway is clear for the true Energy of Existence to become available. I knew and experienced this when I was younger, and, periodically, throughout my life. Somehow, my experience with my parents through me off Center, in ways I am only beginning to comprehend. And I am only now, gradually, beginning to recover what I already knew. Of course, there are degrees of knowing, and I wouldn't even pretend that mine was or is or will be complete. But it was sufficient, especially with my music, to know that it was when I was completely open, the Energy flowed through me. Even one experience of this is enough to turn a person's life around, to turn a person God/dessward, and to humble a person ... in my case, me. And this is not a false humility, it is more a childlike wonder at the immense capacity and creativity of the Divine. Jai Ma ~ Linda P.S. Thank you very much to all those who have periodically kept in touch with me off-digest. GeorgeSon wrote: “Effort is essential and ultimately our capacity is unlimited. However, only when we realize that what we think as our capacity is not ours at all but God’s does our capacity grow. This is exactly what Amma mentioned in Her question and answer session yesterday Become like a brush in the hands of painter, a pen in the hands of a writer. Become an instrument in the hands of God. Amma also says that we should constantly remember that we are not the doer, just an instrument; a vehicle for Gods power. When we realize that the power to do comes from beyond, our power to do, increases radically.†
