Guest guest
A friend of mine is having pain/issues with his right arm (mainly wrist) & left knee. Issue with right wrist: (duration of this issue is since Dec 05) Having savior pain in the lower portion of wrist joint on the path from little finger to arm. This pain was aggravated in the month of January & February (Living in Toronto, Canada). Now the pain has extended to whole of his arm starting from the same place in wrist running on the inner side to arm to the shoulder with one intense pressure points at elbow (the inner side). Issue with left knee: (duration of this issue is for more than 2 years) Weakness & pain in the middle lower portion of the knee on the backside of leg. He is having this problem for quite a while. He feels most of the symptoms while doing movement with his ankle or he is sitting on floor & tries to stand up he cannot put load on his left knee. He went to one the allopathic doctors & the doctor is doing some tests. In parallel the doctor suggested that my friend might be having `Serotonin - Symptoms' & asked him to take Serotonin medicine. Although I am a layman & based on my reading on net I am approx. 100% sure my friend cannot have Serotonin-symptoms. Some of the physical characteristics, which you might need to determine his prakriti are: 6 feet tall Medium built – neither over weight no under weight. Dry skin Medium level curly hairs Sleeps for approx. 6hr a day (never more than that) Please let me know if any more information is needed to help me in helping my friend to come out of this problem. Before you provide any suggested medicine/yoga-assana/natural process, can someone suggest me what sort of diet should I recommend him in general(vat/pit/kuf)? Thanks Nitin

Guest guest
Dear Nitin You have been already suggested some medication for your friend. His history, aggravation of symptoms in cold location in winter suggests that it is a case of aamvata as per ayurvedic terms, despite pains being in different locations. He may be having some swelling too. You have not mentioned his profession. Under the circumstances, you can see some files in folder 'articles' Vata diet as well as Pitta diet together can be followed. Noel has stored several files specific diets according to doshas. Regarding serotonin we cant comment as mixing the two terminologies is not easy. Less sleep means both Vata problem as well as possibilities of serotonin out of balance, based on limited modern science knowledge of this author. As a remote advise, this author suggests that you may also try some exeercises. The pains initiating at the wrist joint and radiating to shoulder also comes under Vatic disorders, but a possibility of modern science name Carpal Tunnel syndrome, cant be ruled out. You may check up if exercises given at follpwing websites help you. If you find them useful, please post your experience to ayurveda. http://www.will-harris.com/yoga/rsi.html http://www.eatonhand.com/hw/ctexercise.htm http://www.thehealthpages.com/articles/ar-carpl.html ayurveda, "mail_manu_unam" <mail_manu_unam wrote: > > > A friend of mine is having pain/issues with his right arm (mainly > wrist) & left knee. > > Issue with right wrist: (duration of this issue is since Dec 05) > Having savior pain in the lower portion of wrist joint on the path > from little finger to arm.
