zodiacs, one atal, the other moving all the time!

There are two zodiacs, the fixed and the movable. The former is the

sidereal and the latter is the tropical one, which is based on the tilt

of the earth and gives the seasons.

Unfortunately, because modern sidereal astronomers apply the

precessional correction to derive the sidereal zodiac, the impression

most beginners get is that it is the sidereal zodiac that keeps moving

and receding 50 some seconds each year from the golden standard of the

seasonal zodiac. Ashutoshji has pointed this out giving the example of

the seasons during Sri Krishna ji's times. Interestingly, the

phenomenon is captured in everyday reality at any given time! Seasons

are opposite in the two hemispheres at any given time, unless the earth

falls flat on its back and north pole becomes east and south becomes

west. Let us not go there!

However, a bit of confusion has entered in the discussion regarding

coincidence of the zodiacs. I will try to write something about that in

the files area or maybe a message!

Also notable is the fact that as the top/lattoo on which we all live

wobbles around its southern axis, the pole star changes over a long

period of time. It is useful to keep that in mind.
