Dear Astro4um,

The combination of Moon and Mars generates Chandra Mangala yoga. According to the late Dr. B. V. Raman this yoga could also arise when Moon and Mars are in mutual aspect. He also states that this combination can be productive of good if it occurs in the 2nd, 9th 10th or 11th houses.

From an example given in his book "Three Hundred Important Combinations" page 24, 1983 Edition, it is clear that retrogression will impair the efficacy of the yoga.
