Guest guest
My cow Jayaradhe somehow dislocated her hip out in the field. It is rainy season and the cows do a lot of "musti " in the mud, She went out fine in the afternoon and at coming home time she was sitting. She could stand but not walk and hind leg was sticking out sideways somewhat. We had to get her under shelter before nightfall and heavy downpours/ She was shivering. Two men placed a heavy stick under her hind end to lift her and the rest of us lifted her head, her horns, her ears and just pulled her with all our might to shelter through a big patch of water which helped Next morning she couldnt even stand but would try and collapse/ The vet came and couldnt help of course. I gave homeopathic medicine for pain and injury. In the afternoon one of our men managed to find a man from another village who can set bones for cattle. He was out doing field work in the rice paddies as everyone else this week. He tried but failed to replace the joint in positiion as he said there was also a fracture. But he gave the name of another man in a village 20 km away who made a herbal medicine to heal broken bones , I didnt feel too optimistic but we had to try every possibility to save Jayaradhe; It was already evening but we went to get the medicine from this village/ The man Arjun Gorawele. 65 years old cowherd. refused to give the medicine unless he sees the cow, So we brought him back and as it was already late he stayed over with us. He saw Jayaradhe at night and just touched her at the point of dislocation on her hip joint , pushing a little with is fingers and she suddenly jumped on all FOUR feet, ready to fight facing us with her horns as she is a very ferocious cow with strangers. She had become alright by this simple touch. In the morning he gave the herb, bark of a tree, ( which when removed from the tree just grows again in the same place) and showed us how to pound it with hing and gur. We have enough of it for 10 days. He says this medicine makes the bones unite even if they are not set together. He learned it from his father and he is teaching one of his 3 sons. He has treated 500 cows and 100 human beings too for broken bones. Its not only the medicine. It is his expert hand. Now Jayaradhe is recovering fast. She stands and sits but we dont let her walk around yet. She is eating well and she feels comfortable. We are very thankful to Arjun who herds cows as his daily work in the village for healing our cow with such wonderful expertise.

Guest guest
Dear Mother Labangalatika, Please accept my humble obeisences. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Its always so nice to hear from you as your letters are always full of helpfull remedies and experiences. You are fortunate to have so many cowherds who still have knowledge of some of the "OLD WAYS" for healing. In your letter you didnt give a time frame as to this situation. How is Jayaradhe now. Is it possible to get some of the medicine for one of our oxen here who is failing due to one of his back legs being very stiff. He still gets around but slowly. His whole body configuration has changed. The vet says it may be a pinched nerve or even something called black leg. She said that she couldnt determine if it was black leg until he died as she would need to take a tissue sample. We tried differant homeopathic remedies but nothing worked. Ive been doing some prliminary reading on faith healing as explained from old timers in the Appalchain mountains. Your cows are alot smaller than ours but moving a "down" cow no matter what the size is a chore. We made a low sled which is about 6 inches off the ground which the cow/ox can be rolled onto and then secured to by ropes or straps. The sled can be pulled by oxen or tractor. Generally in times of transport someone will sit on the sled holding the animals head. For the sled runners we use 6x6 beams and on each side we have 3 metal pockets for hooking tow chains and also ropes for securing the animal. If the sled is going in one direction and you get to a certain point where you need to go in another direction you can simple change what side of the sled the tow chain is hooked to. Ill send you pictures. Without the sled we would be at an absolute loss for moving a down cow. The next thing is to have a hospital area that the sled can be pulled straight thru. Right now we dont have such a drive thru so we have to manuver a bit to get the sled as close as possible to the entrance of our hospital area and then we use a block and tackle system with a large come-a-long to bring the sled the rest of the way into the hospital area so the animal can be rolled off of the sled. Hoping you and Prakash prabhu are well as well as all of your cowherd helpers and cows/bulls/oxen. Hopefully also your crops are progressing nicely. ys, Balabhadra das Visit us at: www.iscowp.org > [Original Message] > Rosalie Malik <labangalatika (AT) vsnl (DOT) net> > ISCOWP (Balabhadra Dasa & Chaya Dasi - USA) <ISCOWP (AT) pamho (DOT) net> > Cc: Cow (Protection and related issues) <Cow (AT) pamho (DOT) net> > 7/11/2004 10:00:03 AM > Jayaradhe;s fracture > > My cow Jayaradhe somehow dislocated her hip out in the field.
