Again, where did you say you planned to start this Varnasrama farm community? The Varnasrama College sounds interesting, also. I wonder what you are planning for curriculum? Did you ever see the sample Varnasrama college curriculum that Vyapaka prabhu and I published in Hare Krsna Rural Life in the Fall 1995 issue? (I can't remember if Vyapaka posted this on the online collection of HKRL articles.) Or the condensed version of varnasrama curriculum in the July 2000 Back to Godhead? I'm sure you've read the Prabhupada Varnasrama book: Speaking About Varnasrama. Jiva Tattva prabhu, who is living in the Spain community with Samba has also recently written a book called "The Missing 'S' of our ISKCON." It's a little difficult for him to write in English, because it's his second language -- but mostly, it's a fascinating book. Reading it has inspired me to get back to writing also. This time, I'm trying to write a varnasrama book for my son Asto, who has been researching in Africa. I've roughed out the first 5 chapters. Below is my general outline/notes -- if you are interested. I'm not too interested in getting into arguments about the contents. I've spent about 15 years doing that. Basically, I'm more interested if devotees could just skim the list and say what important topics are missing. Also, to me farming and cow protection must be at the center of varnasrama and at the center of any varnasrama curriculum -- but in case this thread gets too far off topic, I invite Balabhadra and Chaya to tell us to move the discussion to another forum. (By the way, does the varnasrama conference still exist?) your servant, Hare Krsna dasi DAIVI VARNASRAMA – WORK AS WORSHIP -- Hare Krsna dasi Chapter 1: Parusam Nrsu - I Am the Ability in Man The Sacred Ability Krsna Has Given Each of Us How to Use it for Spiritual Advancement Chapter 2: Catur Varnam- The Four Varnas Karmana Yajna Arthat - Work as Worship By following his qualities of work, every man can become perfect. Guest guest
Please feel free to discuss as it seems impossible to establish real cow protection within a faulty system. Any discussions that have the possibility to improve the current system are helpful to establishing cow protection. Your servant, Chayadevi > [Original Message] > Noma T.
