Guest guest
Namasivaya Movie Fans, First let me warn my brothers and sisters that I am not a movie fan; so, my reading the various views on this issue is somewhat from a "detached position"( or it would be more accurate to say "detached flexibility" and no fixed position ). And let me point out like Amma says sometimes "I am not against anything" and try to feel the spirit of this quote perhaps with an appropriate context. Let me start with a humorous story: There was a rabbi who was well known for his good advice to his parishioners; a couple started having a problem with arguing a lot; one day, the wife came to the rabbi and told all her sorrows; the rabbi listened patiently, empathetically; then replied "you know, you are right"; then, the husband came with his sorrows; the rabbi listened patiently, empathetically; then replied "you know, you are right"; then the wife of the rabbi, confused, said to her husband "do you know what you just did? You told the wife she was right and then you told the husband he was right? The rabbi, after a moment of silence, said "you know, you are right." ( laughter ) Like Mahadevan mentioned "Everyone could be correct from the angle that person is analyzing." In other words, perhaps there is some (partial) validity of each view as seen from each of the different angles( frames of reference ). To see this, I feel Manoj's witnessing comment is significant and it seems to imply that a larger more detached truth would emerge. Perhaps someone else can find the words to express this further with simplicity and clarity that is escaping me at the moment. Now, my mind is a little agitated ~ Amma on the west coast and amarnath on the east coast? But, perhaps this dream was from Amma? I dreamt that I was flying way up in the sky as high as the clouds; then, awakening from this dream, I realized I was not that high at all; I was merely levitating up against the ceiling of my bedroom; then, awakening from this dream, I realized I was not flying or levitating; I was merely sitting on the edge of my bed; then, I awakening from this dream, I realized I was lying in bed having a dream within a dream; to bad I accepted this level of illusion as my reality and did not Awaken from all illusions. Perhaps, the message of this dream within a dream is that this whole illusionary world is one illusion within another with many layers. Thank You Amma. So what layer of illusion are the movies, TV, media, our perceptions, or anything else? Again, Let me quickly point out, like Amma says sometimes "I am not against anything." To me this implies, perhaps, we should not take fixed positions too readily. But, rather continue in our spiritual pursuits to try and understand the nature of each thing in the world as part of a larger whole. Perhaps, disagreements can be avoided or minimized or more peaceful, if we do not hasten to take fixed inflexible positions? But take time to reflect. (easy to say, eh?)
