Wouldn't that go against what you said here?" No it does not go against what I said because I am not saying 'Lets make Nepal a Hindu nation." Im saying it already was secular by the very basis of it being a Hindu nation. By officially de-Hinduizing Nepal, Hinduism is being treated as if it is a predatory, exclusive religion that non-Hindus need to be protected from. The very fact that there are so many various 'religions' in India and Nepal is because of the supportive and inclusive nature of Hinduism.Compare the religious demography of Islamic and Christian Nations with India or Nepal. Pre-partition, Pakistan was 33% Hindu now its between 1%-3% Hindu. Whereas India still has more Muslims than any Nation except Indonesia. Like it or not, if Nepal's new secualrism becomes anything like India's secular fascism it will be a disaster for the Hindu civilization. Hinduism is not just about Temples. One can be a Hindu without ever stepping into a Temple or even believing in the need for Temples. It is thus a way of life not a religion. Regarding the Tharu:You say their priest are called 'gurau' which is obviously 'guru.' Guru is a function. the word 'guru' actually means 'heavy'. Heavy with wisdom, responsibility and determination. Even if the Tharu name themselves as the Tharu religion which you never said but suggest, I am sure that the name, as in all indigenous sacred paths, reflects a function. As Tao means 'The Way'. Sanatana Dharma=The Eternal Sustainer. And most important no indigenous culture says that their truth is the one and only way. You seem to intentionally miss my main point that comparing Indigenous faith with predatory conversionists is historically innaccurate, unjust and flat out wrong. Antipathy for Hinduism blinds poeple to the facts regarding its inclusiveness. Regarding the term Hindu: It was applied by the Persians to the people of the Indus and beyond regardless as to who they were and what they saw themselves as. They may not have even known of the full geography of the region. For the record some Hindus have tried to show that it is a Vedic term, but I havent seen it yet. I think its interesting that some people in Nepal want to percieve Sanskrit as foreign to Nepal. From Japan, Hawaii, Mexico to Scandanavia we find Sanskrit words, days of the week, the order of the months etc. The evidence is clear when we remove the 2 months of July and August that were added in by the Romans. Suddenly October becomes the 8th month, November the 9th and December the 10th month. Basic Sanskrit or Hindi knowledge shows us that the 8th month is Aktamba=October, the 9th Month Navamba=November and the 10th month Dashamba=December. Evidence points to Sanskrit being the Ancient world's Nostratic root language. Racist Aryan Invasion theories are the western scholar's solution to the global presence of Sanskrt. This racist theory was the inspiration for Adolf Hitler and his misunderstanding of the term Aryan and the sign of the Sacred Swastika. This was a direct result of Western Academia's racist Aryan theories. Talk about neagative impacts yet still people ignore this and want to demonize Hinduism as some sort of great danger to humanity. So of course I am going to fault western scholars who have a history of denigrating every Indigenous culture and its sense of self-worth. They reject built in native evidences yet form theories that go against Native traditions, supposedly based on native sources. They refuse to allow Indigenous culture, specifically Hindus, to tell their own story. They miss basic truths and present their views as if they are automatically superior to everyone else's views simply based on the fact that its the latest theory. Their record is unquestionably tainted with racism, religious triumphalism and a complete disregard for the research of the ancients. Thus to this day with all their technology they still cannot duplicate the skill and architectual geometry of the Pyramids of Mexico and Egypt. This is a Nepal Forum but I would be glad to send you massive data confirming the discredited theories of mainstream Western Academia. --- End forwarded message ---
