Re: On Indian (Native American ) Religion

Greetings,

For the record the term Native American is not generally used or liked by American Indians. I have yet to meet even one traditional Indian that likes the term. In fact, my American Indian 'Guru' told me directly that he does not like that term but only accepts it in order not to make waves with entrenched Academia. He is very involved in Indian cultural and academic programs and sees that it is more important to do the work rather than 'get worked' over terminologies. I am not saying there are no traditionalists that dont use the term, I just havent met them and I have met quite a few.

Also I think it is providential that Indians and Indians are called by the same name. Its a cue from the Gods. The intentional replacement of Indian with the term Native American is surely an attempt to delink the cultures. Every great Indian leader calls themselves, (and has for the past 400+ years) as Indians, just as a majority of Sanatan Dharmis call themselves Hindus despite the controversy on the origin of the term.

The whole outlook on existance is verily the same wether from the Hindu perspective or the American Indian Perspective. It is not a coincidence but proof of the ancient connectivity between these cultures.
