Guest guest
Dear Learned Astrologers, I am a musician who cannot read music! Perhaps you'd enjoy a laugh at looking at my chart to discover why! DOB August 27,1952 POB Austin, Texas USA Time 8:12 a.m. My Father's family, merchants, wanted him to stay in the family clothing business. He, did his duty, but LOVED his music more. He played Sousaphone in marchng band, tried also to play the bass fiddle and the trumpet. Also, tried to teach himself piano and wrote some love songs. He also, until his death in 1998, sang in a choir. My Mother sang as a young girl on many local stages. She is very beautiful and has a lovely voice . Everyone expected her to make a career from music, but she had too much stage fright. She still sings soprano in a choir and will turn 80 this year--but still her voice is lovely as ever. I grew up a dancer and imitated Mother's voice. In high school and college I sang but struggled to read music and was very challenged by music theory classes. So, went on as a theatre major until I met my Guru (1971). I became a singer for the Master with some friends of mine who could actually play instruments. Our group did a lot of composing from 1974-1977. Mostly, I have ended up teaching children's singing and creative movement classes as a profession these days. I work mostly with children age newborn to age 8 instilling in them the joy of music and dance. I also serve on the board of Directors for a Ballet Company. I think I resist performing myself because of STAGE FRIGHT. I often wonder...will I EVER overcome the nonsense of this FEAR which keeps me from really sharing my God Given Talent? As you explore the topic of music and the arts in a chart, perhaps you could unravel some of my mystery and challenges! Sometimes I feel very jinxed! Guest guest
Dear Lein, That is a difficult answer to give as in Indian music system, reading music was introduced in only relatively recent times, as Vedic astrology is an ancient science. Even today music is not rendered by reading, but memorizing all the nuances. I am sure if you have attended Indian classical music performances, you would have noticed that. At the same time, in a way it is easy to explain as Mercury is afflicted by Ketu indicating a bit of a difficulty in quickly grasping complex concepts. Of course those more learned than me might have another view on the subject. By the way do you have problem to the left eye?
