Guest guest
As some of you know, my father has progressive multiple sclerosis. His symptoms have rapidly worsened in the past year. He's become quite disabled, weakened and depressed. He's gone off to Las Vegas to undergo a treatment of extremely questionable efficacy and unknown safety, because he feels it's his only hope. I'm quite sure this doctor he's seeing is a quack and a scam artist...but he would not listen to any of us who expressed concern. I just learned from my mother tonight that his regular doctor believes that his only other option, beyond what he's already doing, is chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, which may or may not help him and which could potentially kill him (5-8% mortality rate). I know that he is already on the prayer list, but I would be grateful for any extra prayers at this time. He's scheduled to undergo this treatment sometime today, Tuesday. Thanks, Iswari
Guest guest
Beloved Sister, You and your family are in my deepest prayers. Your father must do what he feels is right, in spite of what everyone else might think. It sounds like he is very much afraid, and when we are in fear, we grasp at anything we think we can hold onto, in order to keep from falling. Sometimes, when falling from a tree, we will grasp one fragile branch after another on the way down, even when it is clear that any given branch may not be strong enough to stop the fall. Some falls are inevitable. This is when it is important to shift the awareness from the fall, to the landing, which involves surrender. Surrender the outcome to Your Mother's Lotus Feet. It is not in your control, and to a certain extent, it is not in his control either, but he is using all his energy to try to maintain control, mostly out of fear. The most important thing you can give him at this moment, and in all the moments ahead is LOVE. Gentle reminders that no matter what happens, he is in God's hands, and that the body's temporary nature is something we must all confront eventually. Remind him of his true nature. I am not suggesting that he "give up", as that is not the same thing as surrender. I am only suggesting that right now, he is in need of peace of mind, and that is where you can be of most assistance to him, and to your family as well. Trust Amma in every moment. Give Her the responsibility, and allow Her to take the fruit of whatever the outcome is. You, my beloved sister can not be receptive, if you are bottled in fear. It will not help you at this time, when you need to be as open & trusting, as surrendered, as relaxed and as receptive as possible in order to be successful in your own endeavor. You must Be LOVE in all situations. Love flows, like a river. It mostly does not force, but it's flowing nature is very powerful. It surrenders to the obstacles in it's path and simply flows around them. Let your energy flow. Let your Love flow. Let it all flow to Her Lotus Feet, for She is that eternal ocean to which all things flow back to, and resistance simply makes the process so much more exhausting, and it keeps life giving energy bound and tied. Release it all to Her, and surround you father with the power of that love and light. It is your greatest gift to him, and to yourself. Please forgive my ramblings...it is late...this body is very tired...I am letting Amma do the talking..... I wish you could see the beautiful, brilliant, luminous sphere of light that is surrounding you right now....trust it, beloved Iswari. Be still, and Know that I AM GOD. There is nothing else. I Love You, Dear Sister. You are Love. Sanatani ammasiswari <ammasiswari > wrote: As some of you know, my father has progressive multiple sclerosis. Guest guest
ONS, I will also pray for you & your dad. I can identify with how hard it can be to watch a parent deal with cancer. If anyone were to try an alternative treatment, I would encourage them to consider Chinese herbology, QiGong, or maybe John of God. Guest guest
Dear Iswari, I too will be doing the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra for you and your father and family, and will hold you in my heart. This has to be very difficult for all of you. My heart goes out to you. Love, Prasadini PS One suggestion - if you can get to the Amritapuri.com website page and send a letter to Mother, it always helps. Always. ammasiswari wrote: > As some of you know, my father has progressive multiple sclerosis. His > symptoms have > rapidly worsened in the past year. Guest guest
In the latest issue of Immortal Bliss there is an ad by Dr. Soman Nadhan for his Ayurvedic Health Center in St. Petersburg, Florida; they treat: Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Fibromyalga, etc Also, ads for other alternative therapies. Whatever else, your father is doing, might want to consider Radiance Healing from Amma's Ashram. amma bless, amarnath Ammachi, "ammasiswari" <ammasiswari> wrote: > > As some of you know, my father has progressive multiple sclerosis. Guest guest
Dear Sanatani, Thank you for writing. It's difficult, when someone you love dearly has lost discrimination, due to fear/desperation/denial, and is doing something potentially dangerous. Of course, his decision and the outcome are not in my control, but it's difficult that I'm the only one in my family who doesn't have his/her head buried in the sand. It's hard not to feel like I have to interject discrimination when everyone else in my family seems to have lost it. But in these circumstances, at this point, I have no choice but to surrender. He's undergoing this procedure as I write this and all I can do is love and pray for him. I'm glad I told him I loved him earlier, since when I tried to call awhile ago, all circuits were busy! I'm not sure how to remind my father of his true nature, beyond loving That within him. I feel like he thirsts for spirituality, but is, at the same time, unbelievably constricted and afraid of it (and especially afraid of anything outside of his own religious tradition). Every so often, he seems on the verge of curiosity, but shuts down in the blink of an eye. You are right. What I need now, for him and for me, is to be surrendered, relaxed, open and receptive. At satsang tonight, I had a vision of him, weak, but glowing with light. I had a sense of Amma surrounding him with light and love. He was tired, but smiling. I know you haven't been feeling well, lately, so I especially appreciate your taking the time to write to me, in depth, and give me a good dose of loving perspective. =) Blessings, Iswari Ammachi, sanatani urban <sanatani> wrote: > > Beloved Sister, > > You and your family are in my deepest prayers. Guest guest
Hi, Sweta. It's actually advanced multiple sclerosis, though maybe you thought cancer because I was mentioning that his doctor felt his only further option was bone marrow. I don't think that my father is open to Chinese medicine, at least not from what I've gathered when mentioning to him that I've been seeing an acupuncturist/herbalist. He did express an interest in seeing another healer/bodyworker who's been really helpful to me and I think is great with neurological issues, but he never followed up on it... Who is John of God? Thanks for your thoughts, Iswari Ammachi, Sweta Mitzel <swetabc> wrote: > > ONS, > > I will also pray for you & your dad. I can identify with how hard it can be to watch a parent deal with cancer. Guest guest
Dear Prajna, Thank you...and I was just saying to Sara(ma) that if I ever wrote a book about my life's experiences, I would have to call it something like "Unexpected Grace!" =) It awes me, how I've found Her grace in places and times I'd have least anticipated.
