Guest guest
Hare Krishna World Festival Not Sponsored by ISKCON By ISKCON East India Divisional Council Dear Maharajas and Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. In January 2004 a disciple of Gour Govinda Swami named Jagateswara Das organized a large festival in Puri lasting 2 or 3 days. He called it the "Hare Krishna World Festival". Many devotees were under the impression that the festival was sponsored by ISKCON. Afterwards, when the local ISKCON authorities requested him to give an accounting of his income and expenses, he did not agree, stating that the festival was his personal business and that he was not a part of ISKCON. We understand that he is again organizing such a festival this year. ISKCON's senior management in the area has approached him and requested him to organize the festival under the banner of ISKCON and according to ISKCON's management and accounting standards, but he has again refused. Thus, to clear up any misconceptions, the East India Divisional Council (EIDC) of ISKCON wanted the devotees to be informed that "The Hare Krishna World Festival" in Puri is not an ISKCON festival. Any questions may be directed to the EIDC Secretary, Sankarshan Nitai Das, at sankarshan.nitai.jps (AT) pamho (DOT) net
