The damage in the child abuse case as well as in the zonal acarya matter can never be undone. If it has been done, it has been done. It cannot be taken back. Only precautionary measures can be taken and some help can be given to the affected devotees. They got many years for rectifying their mistakes in the zonal acarya era but nothing was done. Inspite of the bad experiences at that time and after that also, the PADA titles went on until recently. They were ultimately forced to think of Guru Reform as a last ditch effort. But why to have gurus in the first place who need reform? This 'guru reform' is a term which hardly finds place in any of the scriptures. Better to have a few gurus who are of the highest standard or those who are progressing quickly towards that standard. Have the GBC not failed completely to address or solve the Guru issue? And they think that the solution in to increase the no. of gurus in our society. They have facilitated it even more in this year's resolutions. There was not even a public apology from the GBC to all devotees in ISKCON about the zonal acarya mishap until maybe recently. So I feel the only way now to rectify their mistake is to accept moral responsibility for the mistakes by resigning. > That will be political and marely sentimental, an escapist's > mentality. Infact I feel it's the opposite. Not resigning at this juncture shows a sign of weakness or attachment to the post. Resigning is a sign of courage, boldness & detachment not escapism. Escapism means when we choose the easier way out. But for the GBC, resignation will be a test of their sincerity since they have occupied that post for a long time and they are used to accepting the things which go with their position. If the senior devotees show exemplary detachment then it will set a shining example for all the future generation of devotees. > Of course, if their presence brings in more problem then they > should honestly resign, but not just to pacify those who condemn them. > This is my humble opinion.
