Namaste Patricia,

Under jyotish rules, you were born under the sign of Pisces with the

Moon in the nakshatra of Krittika.

The chart shows you are an artistic person and an author. The mutual

aspect of the Moon and Venus gives you the passion for art, and in

love affairs as well. Nonetheless, the Venus/Ketu conjunction in the

rashi chart makes you a contemplative person and a meditator. Venus

in the navamsha lagna supports this combination for creativity in the

rashi. You may be interested in poetry too.

Jupiter in the 5th from the karakamsha (as determined from the rashi

chart) makes you a good writer and an author.

The notable yoga in the chart is Shakti Yoga, which is formed by the

combination of Moon and Rahu (both exalted) which aspects the 5th

house. This produces a keen mind which seeks knowledge and truth.

This yoga can produce an influential person which exposes hypocrisy

and injustice. This is due to the Moon/Rahu combination having rashi

drishti on Saturn in the 5th house, a malefic planet.

This yoga above ties-in justifiably with your experience of trauma

when you were young. After your birth, you were running the

mahadasha of the Sun, which is located in Sagittarius. The Sun is in

very close conjunction with Mars, the natural significator of the

genitals and lord of Scorpio. This shows why your parents allowed

the operation to be made on you.

At the age of 6 or 7, you were running the mahadasha of the Moon.

Although the Moon is exalted, this period did not produce a benefic

result because of the Sun/Mars conjunction in the 8th house from the

Moon. Thus, the second operation was performed on you.

Your current Yogini mahadasha is Jupiter. The vimshottari mahadasha

is Saturn. This period allows you to write books due to Jupiter in

the karakamsha. The Jupiter period will end on February 8, 2008.

However, you may have to travel quiet frequently due to Saturn, which

is in the third house and aspecting the 9th house from the arudha

lagna.

Regards,

John R.

shakti yoga? what i found on the internet

says it's a combination of planets in the

7th, 8th, 9th and 10th houses. ???

john, what do you mean when you use the term shakti yoga?

moon & north node in the third?

aspecting saturn in the 5th?

makes me a champion of truth, justice,

and what once upon a time

was considered to be 'the american way'?

john, how do you know where to start counting houses?

do you start counting in the house that contains the point?

and does the number of houses equate to the house system...

for instance, do you say that since the gap is 8 houses,

does that equate to scorpio matters?

thanks. i am learning a bit from all this.

it took me a while to decipher it all.

thanks for your kind help.

in western astrology right now i am undergoing a 'saturn return' --

is there something like that in jyotish?

it sure is a difficult time financially.

and yet i am working hard in my new business... writing & publishing.

i think it's why i am here... communication, of course. :)

Namaste Patricia,

My answers to your questions are as follows:

1. > this ? i don't understand. what is karakamsha?

> are you counting from the 8th to the ascendant?

Karakamsha is determined by locating the position of the Atmakaraka

in the navamsha chart. The atmakaraka is the planet with the highest

degree in the chart. In your case, the atmakaraka is Jupiter. It is

located in the navamsha of Gemini. Traditionally, the karakamsha is

therefore Gemini.

KN Rao, however, has another technical opinion as to how to use this

karakamsha position. He opines that the Gemini position should be

used from the rashi chart rather than the navamsha. From the rashi

position, Jupiter is located in the 5th from Gemini. According to

Jaimini, this means the person is a good writer and is interested in

the shastras (particularly jyotish) and vedic literature.

You should read KN Rao's book on the karakamsha to understand the

technical reason for his approach. For the esoteric reasons of the

karakamsha concept, you should read Sanjay Rath's book on Jaimini's

Upadesha Sutras.

Shakti Yoga is a powerful combination to do good or evil. Jyotish

writers state that a person born with this yoga has the power to

destroy the world. However, the signification is altered depending

on the planets that join the combination of Rahu and the Moon. If

malefic planets join the combination, then the person will destroy

evil, which is the case in your case. If there are no planets

involved in the combination, or if benefic planets are involved in

the combination, then the person with this yoga will destroy, or

attempt to destroy, the dharma or goodness in the world.

In technical terms, Rahu and the Moon must conjoin or aspect the 5th

and the 9th houses of the chart. However, if the house is Cancer,

then the rule does not apply. It is said that the Cancer zodiac is

the house of the Supreme Being.

3. > is it possible to pinpoint the date/time period with jyotish??

Yes. Take a look at your mahadasha schedule in your computer

program. At the time of your birth, the Yogini dasha was

Saturn/Venus/Mercury. From the Moon lagna, the interpretation is

that Venus, the female genetalia, has undergone trauma, as shown by

Mercury in the 8th house, the house representing the private parts.

You should read James Braha's book on Hindu astrology to get an

introduction to vedic astrology.

You should read KN Rao's book relating to the determination of the

arudha lagna. Parasara's book also discusses this. On the list,

Juliana wrote an excellent explanation of this subject a few weeks

ago. You should review it.

5. > in western astrology right now i am undergoing a 'saturn

return' -- > is there something like that in jyotish?

Yes, there is. I did not use it here in this case. You can use the

western astrolgoy designation to complement the trends revealed

through jyotish.

thanks for your kind patience with my questions.
