Finding the lord of lagna for Scorpio ascendant

Perhaps I can help. In Vistiji's case, you will notice that he has a Kala Amrita Yoga, which is dominating the effects. This Ketu will dominate as Lagna lord while the KAY is effective.

 

But otherwise, Sanjayji gave the following rules for finding the stronger of the dual lords (in descending order of importance):

 

- if one lord is in the lorded sign, then the other lord is stronger

- the planet joined more planets is stronger

- the planet aspected by more out of Jupiter, Mercury and it's dispositor is stronger

- the planet in higher dignity is stronger

- the planet in the stronger sign (Movable is weaker than Fixed, which is weaker than Dual)

 

But this determines the strength of the lord of Lagna. The Arudha Lagna is a slightly different matter. When it comes to arudha padas of signs having dual lordship, both arudhas can and do manifest. In this case you need to look at the strength of each Arudha itself to determine which will manifest and when.

In the Narayana Dasa book, Sanjayji says that in order to determine the stronger of the two co-lords (provided one of them isn't in the sign being lorded), we simply find the stronger of the signs in which both lords are placed - using the standard rule for the sources of strength, i.e.,

6. The sign which gives a higher Dasa period is stronger

which is different from both the lists given by me and Rafal earlier! The list I gave was from one of Sanjayji's old mails on the VA list (whose earlier messages appear to have been deleted). I've copied it here:

 

For comparing the strengths of Rahu/Saturn & Ketu/Mars:

 

(a) First see if one lord is in that sign. If so, other lord is stronger. For example, if Saturn is in Aquarius, then invariably Rahu should be taken as its lord.

 

(b) If one of the above houses is with a larger number of planets, then he is stronger.

 

© "SWAAMI GURUJNA DRIGYOGAHA". If one of them is aspected by more out of (aa) Jupiter, (bb) Mercury and (cc) dispositor, then he is stronger. These carry equal weight. Example : Lets assume that we are considering Le & Aq(1/7). Lets also assume that Le is aspected by Ju & Aq by Me, and their lords donot aspect their respective signs. Then there is a tie. When looking for the aspect of lord/dispositor, you can settle for aspect from either lord, but you have to use the stronger lord in all other rules.

 

(d) If one of them is exalted, then he is stronger (opposite for debilitation).

 

(e) One occupying a sign of higher natural strength (Dual>Fixed>Movable) is stronger.

 

(f) One giving more years is stronger.

 

(g) A sign whose lord is more advanced in longitude from the beginning of its sign is stronger. Rahu and Ketu's advancement should be measured from the end of sign rather than beginning.

When the JH wasnt available with all features I tend

to count narayana dasa by hand. I used this rules which are little

different that list given by Samir. Hope we can clarify.

 

1. present of one of lord in aq/sc sign means the other will rule.

2. number of grahas yuti.

4. guru/buddha/lord rule

5. Exalted

6. Oddity

7. More yrs

8. Longitude.

 

The list was built from early mails on ND and my experience with JH.

(g) A sign whose lord is more advanced in longitude from the beginning of its sign is stronger. Rahu and Ketu's advancement should be measured from the end of sign rather than beginning.

So I'm a little confused now...

When the JH wasnt available with all features I tend

to count narayana dasa by hand. I used this rules which are little

different that list given by Samir. Hope we can clarify.

 

1. present of one of lord in aq/sc sign means the other will rule.

2. number of grahas yuti.

4. guru/buddha/lord rule

5. Exalted

6. Oddity

7. More yrs

8. Longitude.

 

The list was built from early mails on ND and my experience with JH.
