Guest guest
While we are on the subject here I thought I would give you all something to think about. I am a 55 year old man who has spent most of my adult life trying to do the path of God to the best of my ability. I also am the type of man where I need to see proof of something to have faith in it. Let me clarify this. This is when I was younger.. Middle aged, I had to personally see all the intricate details between the initial cause and the final effect to have faith in it. Now that I am older I just follow Paramahansa Yogananda to the best of my ability. Anyway the biggest debate in my own mind from the age of about 20 is the vow of chastity. At this point the debate is irrelevant to me personally for my body quit producing testosterone leaving me without a desire to even debate.. but for you other people {including women} who are challenged with this issue I thought I would give you some food for thought. Most of the major religions of this world preach chastity and I personally believe there are many things inserted into our scriptures to scare the more primitive humans into being better then they would be other wise. You're less apt to rape a woman if you believe your going to burn in hell for eternity. I'm not saying that chastity is not important if you want to advance spiritually. The scriptures state that something is to be considered true only if it meets three criteria's. #1. If the scriptures state it to be so.. #2. If your guru tells you so. & #3. If you experience it.. The only one that real is debatable here is "experience". Well I am the perfect argument for non-chastity.I believe "if you don't use it you lose it". This is true in any other place in the body; Why not the reproductive organs! Even Ayurveda states that suppression of natural urges will cause disease. Don't get me wrong here! I also believe "if you abuse it you lose it too". All things in moderation! Balance has always been the key to life. Whether or not chastity has propelled me spiritually higher is difficult to say. I can tell by my experiences in my meditations and just by the obvious things that I am higher then the average man, and most definitely higher then the more primitive minded; but anybody on this list can make this statement. From what I can see I brought this over with me from a previous life. >From my point of view chastity has brought me more health problems then not.I could be wrong here, but like I said, I just wanted to give you all some food for thought. What does chastity in the above sentence mean. Does it mean abstinence or purity. Can you please elaborate about your health problems ?
