Sai Ram To my Dear Bros and Sis In Sai.

I dont know if the mail that I sent in earlier  went through because this

subject on veg or non veg still seems to be an  issue. So therefore I'm

resending this email again.

So please Bros and Sis if you so choose to carry on with your non- veg

lifestyle do not justify. What the saints and sages did in the past.  That

is not our concern,anyway we were not even around to verify if that is so.

Our current Master Lord Of All The Universe Sathya Sai Baba has made it

explicitly clear that we should all be anymore  as I feel that if someone

does not want to change no one can convince him. Lets not waste time as

Swami has said that Time waste is life waste. Please read the below.

I have read all the emails  that have been sent in,  in regards to non

vegetarian food. I have chosen to reply because on the 28th July in the year

2002 in a personal interview Swami gave me His Blessings and Approval to

speak to Sai Devotees on the subject of Vegetarianism and since then I have

been doing so.

On the 23th July 2002 during the festival of Gurupoornima in His Divine

Discourse Swami said that eggs are not satwic and we should refrain from

eating them.

For your information: to produce one egg a chicken has to be imprisoned in a

cage the size of a microwave oven for 70 hrs. These conditions lead to

lameness, bone brittleness, osteoporosis and muscle weakness.At the end of

their laying cycle. hens are either slaughtered or "force-molted." This

involves removing food and water for several days in order to shock their

bodies into another egg-laying cycle. Egg-laying hatcheries don't have any

use for male chicks; they are killed by suffocation plastic bags,

decapitation, gassing,or crushing.

 

This whole  thing  about non vegetarian food and the consumption of eggs 

started  off with me replying to my friend Joan's email : ' Help Swami -

Save the  Environment.' I actually did not realise that it would go out to

so many people as I had just only joined the saibabanews group. It was my

husband who put me on this link. [The number of people in this group as I've

found out is actually about 54,000]  What a wonderful way of sharing and 

spreading Swamis Words and Teachings.  I also thank Swami for giving me the 

opportunity  to reach out to so many and this has hopefully aroused or

awaken  the awareness,  considering from  the number of mails received.

However we have to be very careful about giving out misinformation and our

approach and response must be loving. We must not turn any issue into a

debate or be personal.

For all those interested in  helping preserve the Environment it goes

further than just refraining from the usage of plastic. Please go on to the

website and search  'Meat Eating and The Impact It Has On the Environment'

Hopefully this will enlighten us to see the harm and tremendous damage we

are doing to Mother Earth.

 

Next I would like to respond to Jatindar Shad's email to Babu Prasad.   My

reply is not biased as I know neither of you,  I'm only responding to the

contents of both emails.   I felt that  Babu was only sharing his views and

experiences as an ex student of Swami's.  In my opinion he did not make any

adverse or negative remarks about Sai Maa.  In fact he used the term "with

all due respect to her." How fortunate we are to have a student of Swami's

in our email group.  Jatindar, I felt that  your email to Babu was rather 

personal and you were judged and critized Swami's students as being

Arrogant. If only you know what Swami's students mean  to HIM.  HE says that

HE spends almost  75% of HIS time with them.   How was Babu"s statement

hurtful and who is hurt?. If we reflect deeply we will realise that it is

only our ego that gets bruised and hurt. Let us not get personal,  instead

we should address the subject rather than the person.

 

The other  topic I would like to address is: Swami has made it explicitly

clear that he does not speak through a third party. On Channeling: Swami 

says "There are others who claim that I am speaking through them and

answering questions put to them, I can only tell you that it is not I that

speak through them. I do not need a media; nor do I need substitutes or

subsidiaries or representatives.That I am supposed to 'possess' such people

or speak through them or shower my Grace on them is an assumption  of which

one ought to be ashamed. How then can anyone believe it, I wonder" These

words of Swamis can be found in Sathya Sai Speaks Vol VllB Chapter 16 page

123-124.  These  are the words of  The Avatar, so  please dont shoot the

sender as I'm only delivering the message so all will be aware of what Our

Lord has said.

 

The subject on Non Vegetarian food seemed to have spark a great deal of

interest among our Sai Bros and Sisters. Some of you have written giving

your opinion without any validation. To put things in perspective so that

all will be clear and if you have any doubts before,  hopefully this will

help remove your doubts and help you see things clearly.. These are the

words of Our Dearest Lord Sri Sathya Sai Baba

This is taken from Sanathana Sarathi December 1994 p315

"Today, let it be anyone,whether one deems himself a devotee or not, he

should give up meat eating. Why? Meat eating promotes only animal qualities.

it has been well said that the food one consumes determines one's thoughts.

by eating the flesh of various animals, the qualities of these animals are

imbibed. How sinful is it to feed on animals, which are substained by the

same five elements as human beings! This leads to demonic tendencies,

besides committing the sin of inflicting cruelty on animals. Hence, those

who genuinely seek to become devotees of God have to give up non-vegetarian

food. Calling themselves Sai devotees or devotees of Rama and Krishna, they

fatten on chickens. How can they be deemed Sai devotees? How can God accept

such a person as a devotee? Therefore, whether they are devotees in India or

outside, they should give up from this instant meat eating...... those who

aspire to become true devotees of God have to give up meat, liquor and

smoking."

 

Swami's Divine Discourse given on 23th Nov 1994 [swamis 69th Birthay]

Embodiments of Love!! You are deeming this day as the 69th birthday of

Swami. I have no desire to celebrate such birthdays. as I was coming I was

greeted by many wishing me" Happy Birthday". I am always happy. Why should

anyone wish "Happy Birthday" for me. Be Happy yourselves. Your happiness is

my happiness.

Today as an offering to Swami, give up meat eating, consuming liquor and

smoking. By renouncing these three, you will benefit yourselves as well as

society and the nation. Swami's sole aim is to promote the welfare of the

family, the society and the nation. If you wish to carry out Swami's aim,

renounce from this moment itself these bad habits.

 

This is from Summer Showers In Brindavan 1997 p182

"You should not misunderstand and misinterpret what I say. It is my duty to

convey to you the truth as it exists. Today the reason why the human

population is increasing is because of the attitude of the people. For man

to eke out his living to fill a small tummy of his, God has created plenty

in the world. HE has created a large amount of rice, a large amount of

fruit, a large amount wheat. While such good food has been created by God,

yet we go and eat meat and fish. And all the fish which we kill and eat are

reborn as human beings."

 

This is from Conversation with Sai Baba p19

"There is another spiritual reason. When you kill an animal you give him

suffering, pain and harm. God is in every creature, so how can you give such

pain? Sometimes when someone beats a dog he cries, he feels so much pain.

How much more pain then in killing. Animals did not come here for the

purpose of supplying food to human beings. They came here to work out their

own life in the world. When a human being is dead the foxes and other

animals may eat, but we have not come to provide food for those that eat the

human body; we have not come for that purpose. Similarly, man eats the

animal, but the animal has not come to provide man with food. Meat gives the

blood its effect, like passion and similiar qualities. Dirty thoughts come

with fish. Although fish is always in water, it has a bad smell."

 

This is from Sathya Sai Newsletter Spring 1994 p37

"There should be some regulations with regards to food. Many doctors

emphasize the value of proteins and recommend meat, eggs, etc. Proteins in

this form build the body but do considerable harm to the mind........... The

Vedas have declared that the mind is the cause of man's bondage or

liberation. This means that the mind has to be used properly and turned

Godward. Equally, the mind is responsible for health or sickness. in this

context, food is all important."

 

Discourse given on Nov 22nd 1994 and published in the Sananthana Sarathi

December 1994 P323.

" I have been stressing the vital importance of people giving up this habit

of eating non-vegetarian food even from my boyhood days. Meat eating fosters

animal qualities in man making him descend to the demonic level. .......

Violence in any form is evil and to kill innocent animals is tantamount to

blatant savagery"........

 

Sathya Sai Newsletter Spring 1995 p33

"............ It has been said that the food one consumes determines one's

thoughts. You develop cruelty when you eat the flesh of cruel

animals.......So people who want to be devotees of God must give up eating

meat completely. How can you call yourselves devotees of Sai or Rama or

Krishna, when you kill animals? Those people are real demons. Such people

never get the grace of God. So whoever they are, whether Indians or from

other countries, they should follow Swami's command. Give up eating meat,

now!"

 

Sathya Sai Newsletter Spring 1995 p16

"................ It is a sin to kill an animal. You may  reply that an

animal was killed by the butcher. That is incorrect, it is only because you

are eating them that the animals are being killed. If you stop eating

animals, then no one will butcher them to sell in the market. Thus the sin

is committed by the one who eats as well as the one who kills."

 

My Dear  Bros and Sis I believe I have given you enough material on what

Swami has to say on the subject of Non Vegetarian food. It is very clear and

concise. There is no compromising.

I just like to add a little more, in the yr 2000 I wanted to hold a

vegetarian workshop and invited a friend of mine to speak [ she has been

Blessed with many interviews and gifts from Swami]. She then asked Swami in

an interview if she should speak and Swami's reply was  "Yes Yes Go This is

Very Important work We must Stop this."

Prior to this she told Swami that she had been very vocal about animals

rights and is she should continue to be so. Swami bent over in the interview

and said to her " Animals cannot talk, animals cannot speak you must speak

on their behalf."

On another ocassion Swami invited this friend of mine and her husband to

join in a discourse that he was giving to HIS students, this was in 1992.

In another inteview that I had with Swami with this friend of mine, I asked

Swami if I should speak to the Sai followers on this topic of vegetarianism

and Swami immediately said "yes" and gave me

HIS complete approval and Blessings since then I have been doing so.

 

 

 

All we now need to ask ourselves is this

 

1.  How serious am I towards my path to Spirituality?

2.  If all the Information that has been given to me does not lead to

Transformation, then of  what good is it?

3. Do we love Swami enough to obey His commands?

4. Has knowing SAI made a difference in the way I live my life?

5. Am I prepared to move out of my' Comfort Zone' in the way of my eating

habits?

Dear Rosemarie,

Sai Ram,

It was indeed a pleasure to read your mail with His Divine Views and Instructions on Vegeterainsm.

That my name could find mention in your mail was welcome, although the reason was adverse.

My experience with some Sai Students may have been that I believe that they tend to become - the last word - authoritative in any discussion. Yes I can be very untrue to say i am free from ego - but, that some students have had to opportunity to be very close to Swami - they have to fight their ego - due to this closeness. With age each student will mature to be a guiding post in life - but when they are fresh out of a Sai Insititution - they have to face the world like anyone of us.

Surely, what Swami says has to be followed to the core, but what about those whom Swami calls for interview - and advises them on the contrary or comes in a dream and advises a devotee on the contrary. Will you say that this never happens or will you say that Swami dreams are just that - dreams.

I propose to address two points, very briefly:

1. EGGS: There are Organic eggs, which will not produce a chick on incubation by any natural or artificial method. I am sure you are aware that such organic eggs - do not rot to form blood and flesh - they rot like any dairy product.

2. SAI MAA - As a respectful devotee of Baba, do you believe Swami can be present at many different places at the same time - Yes you do. I also read the Notice Published in Sanathana Sarthi by SSCT. That is for the common masses to be aware of many fraudsters and tricksters who are out to make money by their acts. Where His Grace is truly available - there is no greed or demand for money - and you keep your eyes open and see wonders - called Sai Miracles. I have seen - the miracles around SAIMAA first hand - she has His Grace to talk to Him in Telgu, when in His explict astral presence, but, in normal times she knows no Telgu.

I have seen many con-tricks and fruads - I am afraid I can't be deceived in a Genuine Sai Miracle. That is where the power of discrimination come to play. Sai Maa vibrates with HIS PRESENCE - always and He Makes His presence around her very evident indeed.
