Amma:

"Always remember that you are just an instrument in God's Hands. Have

the attitude that your are not the doer but that God makes you do

everything...It Is God's Power that carries us through everything."

Dear Amarnath:

Thank you for the Amma parallel to Bhagavan Sri Krishna:

We as devotees can choose a Bhava of lying on Her lap as a mere

instrumentality.

               ...

May I be like a log on Your River

tossing about to and fro

by thy blessed Will.

Make me a leaf

in a Divine autumnal gust.

Dearest Beloved

I resist your instruction

to become an instrument

and ignorantly cling to

I-n-d-i-v-i-d-u-a-l-i-t-y.

Divine Physician

Please remove the disease

of Doingness.

Not I but Thou, Amma

Not I but Thou.

This is true not only while doing seva, but while doing anything. Many

years ago I  asked Mother how I could serve Her - I naively thought that

She would make my health better so I could directly - through seva -

serve Her - She said "dedicate all you do to God". It's easy, while in

the ashram to have the knowledge that we are serving the Guru, but while

I'm brushing my teeth I don't have the knowledge that I am brushing

God's teeth. While I am cooking my dinner I don't have the knowledge

that I am cooking God's dinner. It's easier to have that attitude while

you are cooking someone else's dinner. It was much easier to have the

attitude of serving God while I was working with disabled kids than it

is to have the attitude of serving God when I am, say, washing my hands.

But it is all the same, nevertheless.

But to have the knowledge that "I" am serving is even egoistic. It is

really God who is serving God.

Again, it is a matter of getting "me", "I" out of the way. It's not that

I think I am so great, It's just that I identify with "me" - even a

little is egoistic.

As Temba says, it is that Love that is seeking itself. And that also

means serving itself.

And if anyone has even read this far - please pardon my rambling.

Dear Prasadini:

You are beautiful!

The post below is exquisite.  That was an excellent question you

asked Amma.  Amma's answer will resonate with me for a long time (I

hope)

A Senior Swami (Maharaj) in my acquaintence was asked this question

eg how do you serve a Sadguru?

The Swami said:  Obey His Instructions.

Namah Shivaya,

GeorgeSon

P.S. I need to upgrade my toothpaste.

Amarnath,

It's like the prayer you wrote. It sits next to my bed along with other

treasures like Mother's picture and my Ganesh murti:

"Mother, please, please, please

Take away this burdensome egoic mind

Consider it a gift, as it is my only possession

Or, come as a thief at night

And let me Awaken to the Sunshine of Dawn

Without me.:"
