Guest guest Posted May 26, 2006 Report Share Posted May 26, 2006 Vajpayee honoured with Paramacharya Award Press Trust of India New Delhi, May 25, 2006 Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was on Thursday honoured with the eighth Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati National Eminence Award for "outstanding" public leadership. The award, instituted by the Mumbai-based South Indian Education Society, was presented to Vajpayee at a simple function at his residence in New Delhi. The ceremony was preceded by chanting of vedic mantras. The annual award carries a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh, a silver lamp, a citation and books on the late 'Pramacharya' of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in whose memory it has been instituted.
